When i look at what is going on in the world today, I know all of the mundane reasons for the conflicts, but I cannot help but think there may be an ulterior motive. In FMA one has to sacrifice an entire nation to get a Philosoper's Stone. In other words, carry out a genocide. In "Illuminatus" the Illuminati conspire to cause mass deaths so they can harvest the souls and become immortal. In "John Carter" invisible beings manipulate events to harvest the loosh. Sometimes I get the impression that this sort of thing is what motivates the people really in charge. Not the public figures, the ones in the shadows.

>>41767701Ive imagined so as well, as it makes no sense to continue these 1000+ year old conflicts unless there are immortals around with lots of power and 1000 years of brooding in grudges

>>41767701Interesting theory, but...There are crazy money-thirsty billionaires who make a lot of money thanks to wars, and these people form a worldwide mafia that pulls the strings of all the politicians who are nothing more than puppets. THIS is the reason why there are wars. The philosopher's stone is not an object, it's coded language for when the practitioner has learned the secret of alchemy, turning himself from a non-thinking stone to a "thinking stone", which is the right translation of the original term.
It’s raining men, hallelujah! It’s raining men, hey hey!
>>41767701Ne Zha 2 has a similar plot.Actually, now that I think about it, while that's chinese, there's a lot of anime that involve harvesting people for some dark purpose. In Aquarion the angels collect and feed them to the tree of life. In Black Clover they massacred the elves for their magic.
>>41767966That is just how the immortals manipulate the human elite. The seven deadly sins: greed, wrath, lust, envy, pride, gluttony and sloth. This goes for the commoners as well.I do not think the stone is a physical object either and I am familiar with the basic precepts of internal alchemy. I am talking about something else entirely.
>>41768878In FMA the Ishballans clearly represent the Palestinians. It was had to see what was coming at the time the manga was created but still eerily predictive. If you haven't seen "John Carter" it's a really good movie, the 'Therns' are like Archons, most people cannot even see them and they manipulate events for maximum suffering to harvest the loosh. They make themselves known to people in positions of power and give them just what they need to cause death and destruction.
