most Americans like to go abroad, but even when they do so in a job context (military, corporate, shipping etc) most people usually wanna go home after awhile, especially us burgers. however my old man was a bit of a character. He was a very clean person, and pretty soft spoken and polite. He was ironically terrible with languages and spoke English with an atrocious southern accent that drove my British mother insane and would have made bill clinton blush. How such an easy going guy lived in all the places we did and didn't act out as much I would is something I will never understand. Also I'll never understand the way with people that he had (given his complete obliviousness to languages). People wanted to learn to "speaka engrish" just to bro out with this guy. we came to live in port Blair because after his police career bothered him enough he decided cave to my mother's demands to go live with her family there. He became a bit of drunkard during this time but it just meant he spent more time with me instead of working so that was a win in my book. I naturally spent lots of time at home getting taught academics by mom and playing lots of vidya. I mean LOTS. I can to this day, speed run super Mario 3 and I don't always need to bother grabbing a coon suit. also woe to you if we running some AOE and I'm the Spanish. I give you all this background because the people we will discussing ITT aren't me, my dad, or his jarawa bro, or even the Indian navy captain who was friends with both. we will be discussing a conversation I overheard when I was 10. and the sentinelese.
>dad: so when we goin fishin' again?
>jarawa bro: weather is shit rn, you know this
>Cpt sikh: all you two talk about is fishing. neither of you fools even owns a boat
>Dad: well okay fancy pants you don't technically OWN a boat either
>*mixing up dominoes*
>Capt sikh: well nobody is going fishing for some time. two idiots like you nearly ruined my career.
you guys want moar?

>dad: oh yah I heard about that. what is so special about that island that they can just kill 2 guys?
>cpt sikh : its not the island, its those people.
>dad: what about them
>Capt sikh: they have *cough*well... let us say they are very blessed
The captain's phone rang, saving him from having to explain more. the incident they were referring to was when 2 fishermen were killed by the sentinelese in 2006
>dad: what did he mean by blessed
>jarawa bro: I could tell you but you not believe me
>dad:well it's better than nothing
>jarawa bro:They live very long time. sometimes 100s of years unless they leave island. other things they do too. very strong. can throw your fat ass 20 feet
>dad busts out laughing
>dad: yah and I'm the president of Russia, hahahaha
that was the first time I heard this about them but not the last. I would ask many jarawa I knew about it but rarely will any of them comment. mom said people don't like to talk about as a way to protect them, because modernity ruin them and the onge. but that's not what it felt like. it felt like people were scared of them. I did talk to an onge guy a few years later and he said this
>there was a huge war between the islands a couple of years ago.
>the sentinelese used to live on the main islands and killed lots of people
>war however was not about territory
>not about food
>the sentinelese would "take people"
>everyone apparently pitched in to oust them
He also made it very clear that the onge DO know their language or at least they did very recently.

*huge war a couple hundred years ago*
port Blair and that whole area has a lot of weird stuff going on in and of itself. Its more haunted than the entire phillipines. if you guys wanna hear about that I can elaborate. there's lots of spooky shit that happens in the Andaman islands that's very unique.

so the local religion they have is not that out of the ordinary, its a form of animism. they believe everything has a spirit in it, like for example trees are viewed as having their own personalities depending on where they are located. The jarawa are still pretty primitive for the most part and sadly most of them are jobless bums and they like their boose. However, some are educated. Its rare to find onge or jarawa that speak English and hold high level jobs (my dad's homie was a plumber) but they are there now. after the late 90s they became a lot more open to the outside world, but they were so recently contacted they can easily get sick from foreigners. a little known fact is they actually gave the japs hell during ww2 and managed to keep their ancestoral area. Of course if you ask one of them how they did it, some might quietly say THEY didnt. apparently there was some sort of thing that killed a lot of the Japanese that they stay away from. Its a huge black hole of information but supposedly its a "deadly fog" that settles on the forests after the monsoon season every few years. that's all that's known about it. their area still isn't that well explored to this day although it's been mapped since the 70s.

also not really a spook but all andamanese do this funny super squat like they're taking a dump when they're pissed at you which is hilarious. like "fuck off or I'll poo on u". its like a universal thing among all the tribes including the sentinelese, you can see them doing it in the famous footage where they shot an arrow at nat Geo.

Hydrogen sulfide from decaying organic matter and the humidity? Doesn't take much to kill you.

it could've been that or methane. half of the main island is rainforest.

port Blair used to be a penal colony. most of the historic buildings there are avoided by most andamanese. those historic buildings are still used today, and they have a high turnover rate among even the people that work there. frequent power outages (clock that up to the weather and cheap equipment) but I myself walked around in the post office quite a bit and it made me sick. not like I'm gunna puke sick but to the point I hated being there, I actually had my first paranormal experience at that place. I was pokemoning my ass off on the bench while waiting to talk to grandpa and get my present and something started strangling me. I have later in life had somebody's hands on my neck but at the time I was very young. TLDR I peed myself but my grandad seemed to understand a little bit. I didn't get in trouble and it was talked about just as a kid having nerves. but I know what that felt like

I would have to make some phonecalls to get moar desu Im glad you guys are enjoying it, I started this thread off talking about my dad but my mom was also the shit. she was hot. I mean way out of my dad's league, she liked to think of herself as a bond girl. she for sure was aware of all that was going on but to her it was impolite to mention it. she stopped wearing heels in our home, because she would trip pretty frequently. she said it was "whoopsies" and she just played it off. but I saw something trip her to the point of a face plant. after awhile she always wore Crocs or sandals and for a bougie girl like my mom that was a serious L. she was like a Russian queen even her bathrobe cost 500 dollars.

btw for any /k/commandos a jarawa bow is nearly 80 pounds. I measured one on a tiller they make bows selectively of course and the art is sadly being lost but I personally did attempt to draw one and it is impossible. I am twice the size of these people.
