i could be wrong, probably am, but the best way I've found to achieve not only hemisynch but also to get rid of deep seeded trauma that drugs or therapy could never fix, and perhaps the door to leaving this prison body for good sooner than you would (like getting a reduced sentence for good behavior) is by MENTAL mantra meditation also known as Mansika Japa. Apparently it is the strongest form of meditation and the hardest to master, but if you're a turbo schizo who's brain never shuts up it's much easier.

Inb4 jeet shit hindu blah blah indians don't have a monopoly on chanting, the rosary and hesychasm for Christians, Zhikr for Muslims, that thing where they shake back and forth for jews.

What prayers and mantras have you all tried and which work best for you?
I do the maha mantra myself but the Jesus prayer in Greek Orthodox is also good, om mani padme hum if you want something more middle of the road and not focused on deity worship, whatever works for you, I think it's about they noise they syllables actually make and what parts of the brain that makes light up. I use the maha mantra (hare Krishna chant) because it contains several of the Rosicrucian sacred tones so pattern recognition and all that. The word Raaa-Maa must do something to the neuroplasticity your brain or do away with old engrams not necessarily be about Rama the archer from the Mahabharata

this is very interesting. I've been looking for prayer practices to supplement my practice, and I would like to know more about these or where I can look for more info.

Gayatri mantras of the navgraha primarily.
It's been great.
So much good things have come from it.

I'll share a little about Venus/Shukra, as it works similar for the other planets:
Shukra beej mantra is based on the "DD" sound, which if you sound it out activates your chest, which is where you heart chakra is. The beej mantra of Venus is all about the energy of love, but does not give so much wisdom. So chanting that gives very deep love. But the gayatri mantra of Venus is a prayer to recieve wisdom - so from that it gives social intelligence and understanding of relationships, and still gives love because that is the shakti of Venus, but gives more wisdom than love at times, whereas in comparison the beej mantra is tons and tons of love, but not very much wisdom.
Doing both of them is nice.

When you chant on a daily basis, say like 2 hours a day daily chanting, it imprints the sign and house of Venus onto your heart chakra, and you will learn lessons corresponding to that sign and house, along with generalized lessons with no particular planetary correspondence. So when you do it for 30 days, or 120 days in a row, you will have imprinted 1 or more signs of Venus onto your heart, and will feel large enhanced flow of love and venus energy every time that transit occurs. Same occurs with other planets and deities - such as Lakshmi may also be imprinted according to the transits of Venus.

Daily continuous silent chanting becomes easy and fun after a few years.

Any form of meditation that uses concentration to reach absorption (samadhi) works but you have to put all goals out of your mind during the meditation to become sufficiently concentrated on your chosen object. You simply can't try to make the thing you want to happen or it ruins the meditation. A tip I learned from The Illusion of Method/Astral Projection Without Tears's author is to state (I'd recommend whispering it) your intention to your subconscious/higher self that you want to astral travel before the meditation then do your best to completely forget about that goal and let your subconscious activate the experience. Also 90 minutes is the sweet spot so try to meditate for at least 2 hours. Sikhs do simran japa for 2 hours every morning and I've heard that many of them can astral project, a good book on experiences during japa meditation from a Sikh is the Bandginama
