It is sometimes the case that when I'm speaking to a normie I'll mention something /x/ related and the more obstinate ones respond along lines of "that's tin foil hat stuff," but when I mention, "They don't sell tin foil anymore; it's aluminum foil now" it seems to break their 'mental firewall' and causes them to become curious and receptive to /x/ subjects.
