Hello frens, my question is exactly that in the OP. What exactly is "Samsara?" I'm doing some research on Buddhist concepts, and this one seems very straight-forward, but means different things to different people. As far as I can tell, it essentially means the mundane "wandering" and suffering endured on Earth, that one must overcome in order to achieve Moksha (or Nirvana). As a Christian, I have not done a deep dive into the nitty-gritty of Eastern Philosophy, so I'd appreciate of someone could enlighten (heh) me a bit on this particular concept.
It means you're too much of an ignorant nigger to understand. Now go back to sleep.
>>41792632it's the idea that the world is transient and empty of meaning. but realizing the emptiness is moksha. the related concept, maya, means illusion.buddha was actually born from a woman called maya, what is indicative of the sense in which anyone can become enlightenedin my interpretation it's similar to how good things come from "bad" as in your Cross as a Christianin mahayana samsara and nirvana are one (Vimalakirti Sutra), an entry into the path of non-duality. that sutra says the world is the Pure Land (Buddha's heaven), but doesn't deny that it is still samsara. still samsara = great rest, and there is no happiness greater than rest (Dhammapada)
>>41792657Interesting, thank you for clarifying that. That being said, every source that I've looked up so far essentially states that "samsara" is the cycle of birth, death, and rebirth on Earth, and is characterized by the suffering caused by all manner of actions and vices on our part and by others who have not yet achieved nirvana. I cannot see how samsara can in any way be related to a great rest, if it is defined as exactly the opposite of that, unrest, turmoil, and pain. A do not agree that the concepts relate to Christianity in the same way, as Christ came into this world to redeem humanity and to destroy evil. His crucifixion and resurrection was in spite of the evil of this world, the evil wasn't doing evil to Him for His own good or self-development. If you feel that I am being antagonistic or debating you, that is not the case. I'm only asking because of a situation that has occurred at my worksite. My job has implemented a GPS tracking service to monitor who has access to its fleet vehicles. The name of the company just so happens to be "Samsara". Upon reading more into the name of the company, I was horrified that anyone could name a company like that, and as a Christian, it greatly disturbs me that they would have anyone walking around with these little chips just accepting this concept with no contest. I know it seems like a minor and trivial complaint, but I can't help but feel a sinking pit in my stomach just thinking about consenting to this.

>>41792740same anon, yeah that borders on the holy ghost's spiritual discernment, if your company is named samsara and they are chipping you, maybe the best way to understand it is as the Matrix™thanks for explaining yourself, and i know you're not being combative
>>41792615A scam people keep buyingWe don't have to be here, doesn't mean we wanted toLet's talk about butyric acid in chocolate. Ancient chocolate makers found out about a byproduct in a cheaper alternative milk chocolate creation called butyric acid, which is the same compound that is responsible for the taste of vomit. They advertised it as American or something, and people kept buying it. They kept making it cheaper, hence more butyric acid, and people never gave a shit. They associate American chocolate with comfort food, smores around a fire, childhood nostalgia. That's the philosophy of the American market. See just how much you can get away with by making your product cheaper and shittier every year, and charging more for it. What does that have to do with reincarnation? I don't know, you tell me.
If you ask a man about his greatest dream, he'd probably tell you "A wife" or "2 wives" or "100 wives" or "A big beautiful forest with every color in the friggin rainbow, where I can talk with my dead relatives in peace forever."Such a cucked line of thinking, created by a puppet-mastered dependency on limitations.
Many years of Christianity, church every sunday, bible study every wednesday, youth group every friday, struggling with faith and the worst life imaginable i have to god all led me to buddhism, which led me to hinduism, which led me to omnism and now i dont trust any deity. not that i lack faith, but i lack trust. i dont want to devote myself to an ideology, have it change how i act towards myself and others, let it taint and corrupt me into a judgmental individual to ultimately die and be wrong, so i believe in ideas now because ideas can change but beliefs are much more difficult. i hope you guys are right in whichever faith you decide to invest in.
Men wake up from death and they smell rotting meat, they feel pain unimaginable, they hear sounds like blue whale calls in their ears, they FEEL horrible; and then they realize they were just born; the smell is their body, the sound is the office, the horrible sound is ambient noise; and they weep, as they find themselves slowly getting used to these things. What else can they do? The promises of eternal joy and pleasures weren't real.
>>41792615samsara is what you are gravitated to as of now, your senses. out of your senses you have to realize the absurdity of the place you inhabit, it is excessively easier for humans who can discern and see how pointless and brutal this place is. when you feel discomfort and pain you realize this is not a state you want to be in, you want to be at peace completely focused. if you never struggle or feel unease there is no need to snap out of samsara you can be perfectly comfortable here, however this is not the reality for most people. you have to disavow this realm and admit this place is not perfect, as it is not desirable, because it is in its core pointless without a reason. when you realize there is no point you can go back to the point which samsara is built top of. when you stop attaching yourself to this realm you naturally detach from it, you just have to do it for a period of time and repeatedly, otherwise you reattach yourself. the state of mind has to be refined either through gruesome experiences or wisdom, nothing else reveals the path towards enlightenment as easy, you can of course enlighten yourself by accident as it is completely simple, being so it is also the only way to look life at. when you think it this way anyone can enlighten even 8 years old the truth is extremely simple, you have to realize it by turning inward and then live accordingly. inside and outside are one and the same, now you have to detach yourself from everything.
Samskara refers to the wheel of reincarnation that vedic astrologer priests came to an awareness of through the study of astrology and planetary worship. The portion of karma you are working out in the current life is shown in your natal chart. The hindu scriptures then have a lot of philosophy stacked on top of the foundation of astrological karma, that theorizes how one gains karma or removes karma. And much more.
