My father passed away a few weeks ago. I have never believed in the paranormal, but since he died, I have heard strange things. Like, a couple of days ago, very late at night, I heard someone move the door knob of my room, and there was no one awake at that time, or the day following his passing, I went into his room and heard someone knocking the door, and when I checked, there was no one. My mother and sister say they've also heard weird things since he died.
Are ghosts real, or are we just imagining things?

Firstly sorry to hear about your Dad, that's a hard thing to deal with.

As for the this you're experiencing, it could be a couple of things and is very common.

a) Grief making you read more info normal things such as house settling, hypnogogic states etc. The desire to hear from your deceased loved one can bubble up from your subconscious

b) There is visitation as the spirit needs help. Had this happen with a friend of my wife recently. She's not Catholic but we are so advised her to pray the prayers for souls in purgatory. She did and the experiences stopped.

c) Demons can impersonate recently deceased as they know you're vulnerable and likely to engage. For the same reason we also advised my wife's friend to pray those prayers from b)

Anyways, regardless if you believe our not, doing what I mentioned in b) will help you with your grief and coming to terms with it as well as countering any spiritual stuff if it's present, regardless of the reason

Your dad went through the trouble of moving your doorknob for you to let you know he is ok. The least you can do is believe for him.

RIP Dad

Say a few words he might want to hear. It'd suck to be an invisible ghost and not know why your beloved family member is walking around your house and ignoring you.

Sorry you lost your father, Anon. Some say to talk to the ghost, tell him you love him and that it is ok to move on. do not worry about it being some other entity impersonating him, it's not like telling your father you love him is going to feed an evil demon, probably make it flee if anything.

Your father is pissed at you and your family for making him an atheist ghost instead of a believing Christian spirit.

hauntings are just quantum entanglement phenomena

Do you even miss him? Your dad died and you're talking about things that go bump in the night?
I'm going to be fucking destroyed when my dad snuffs it. I'll probably off myself shortly after desu, would never tell him that though.

Let me guess, you didn't give him a proper burial nor did you pray for him, and you cremated his body.

No, I took a shit in his casket and buried him upside-down.
