All this stuff is a dead end if you're relying on publicly available information and/or don't have a teacher (with literally maybe one or two exceptions that I know of, but even if you stumbled upon it, you don't even know what to look for, so you'd probably gloss over it anyway).Just know that anything involving visualization is nonsense and won't get you anywhere in a million years (well, maybe it'll get you some major deviations, that's something I guess). The actual method involves a borderline physiological process. You have to breath a certain way, squeeze your perinium a certain way, and move a certain way, all in a specifically coordinated way.Even then, if you somehow managed to acquire the appropriate method it's a spiritual dead end anyway. There's guys that spend 15 years of the their lives just to cultivate the basics just so that they can zap somebody (with the aid of a teacher that is, actual development takes even longer than that which is another reason this is a waste of time) meanwhile they still smoke, drink, get angry and get sick themselves. I've known and seen several of these guys, who are relatively high-level, that became disillusioned with it all and turned towards what you'd call "shen" type methods i.e. the more commonly known mental cultivation through meditation, etc. Unless you are specifically wanting to be a healer above all else, and can study this stuff under the tutelage of legitimate teacher, you're just wasting time. P.S. Qi Gong is useless. Most forms are nonsense, and the ones that aren't just circulate energy. Most people don't have a sufficient amount of energy to begin with, so you're just circulating nothing. You're also just fatiguing yourself even more by not letting what little energy you have consolidate and settle by doing qi gong. Worst case scenario you're circulating sickness throughout your body.

Focus long enough on your body and you start noticing and feeling a lot more of the background movements and processes taking place, and it's very easy for someone to think that any of these sensations is qi. Heck if you wear earplugs for a few minutes you can start hearing your own heartbeat, and this is a perfect example of the phenomena (occlusion effect).
