I'm trying to mediate to declutter my brain, but this ain't working. Who am i supposed to think/pray/listen to?>God>Jesus>Vishnu>whatever Jews pray to>ancestors>tree and mountains>endless voidI do think forcing myself to calm for 10-20minutes between meetings helps, but the act itself feels meh. How do you guys do it?
>>41985480Trees and mountains definitely are the greatest form of spiritual meaning of which you can easily relate to. All others relate a level of rational decision making and testing which can take a long time for a correct assessment to be made. But nature never fails since it tune you into the spontaneous world which the world has forgotten about and tried to manufacture a fake environment through cities and so what.
>whatever Jews pray toCoining presses?
>>41985480The goal is to stop thinking. Just focus on taking long slow breaths. You don't need to pray, but if you want you can repeat a mantra from any religion you believe in or if not then just a philosophical mantra would work. Ideally you would just listen to your natural surroundings. Try to get into the mindset that everything around is music. If you have trouble with that or your surroundings are particularly disturbing there is a huge variety of meditation music. If you only have 10-20 minutes to meditate at a time it can be hard to get settled in. I would recommend just getting a little work out in. The perfect time to meditate is when you are pretty worn out. You would notice much greater benefits if you take an hour after work to meditate.
>>41985480For meditation I usually focus on staying present and not letting my thoughts wander. What do you hear? What do you see? What do feel? What do you smell? What do you taste? What are you thinking? Then repeat and focus on answering these all at once. Stay in the moment and if you have distracting thoughts, acknowledge them but don’t follow them.
>>41985480If you are trying to declutter then don't try to think of anyone, just focus on the sensations that come when you breath in and out, and when you get distracted return to those.
>>41985548>The goal is to stop thinking.I guess i know that's the end goal and i think that's i'm ending with, but the first half just seems confusing for the lack of better words.Unfortunately workout between work isn't an option for me.>huge variety of meditation musicI was under the impression that music is rather more distracting than helping, but that seems to be a broader conversation online. I probably just try it for myself.>>41985570>Then repeat and focus on answering these all at onceHonestly i don't know what to answer, so just enjoy the (you).
Life is just a dream
>>41985830> i don't know what to answerWhat do you hear? What do you see? What do feel? What do you smell? What do you taste? You’re just guiding yourself back to the senses to stay present. It’s an exercise in focus that allows your mind to ground itself. Here’s the thing. Our body is controlled by our nervous system. But there’s one part of that nervous system we don’t have conscious control of and it affects everything from your heart rate to contraction of muscles you don’t know you have. The one and only way to interact with your autonomic nervous system is through the amygdala, a part of your brain responsible for emotional process. If you can control your emotions by grounding yourself in the present, you can gain indirect control of what the autonomic nervous system is doing.
>>41985480No such thing but>>God>>JesusAt least they are mostly harmless
>>41986087Jesus is, "god" isn't.
>>41985480You're not supposed to think or pray while meditating. You're supposed to be.
>>41987704Says who? Ever heard of something called the gateway tapes? There’s more than one way to meditate. It depends on what the goal is.
