By offset I mean you get wise to its tricks and start seeing the patterns and currents for when it's trying to set you up for loosh extraction rituals. It offers it up right away and creates a new type of implicit suffering (subconscious awareness of lacking a category of sensory experience, maybe soreness in the partner) and then modifying baseline temperment to sort of smooth it over and extend it over the lifespan. Rather than having as many extremes. It seems to be trying to reallocate the required level of suffering.
