Instead of trying to know what it really is, if it really happened like it is written, or if it is all an alegory or a symbolic myth or whatever, instead of doing that, you gotta try to see what this particular story signals? Ask yourself, what does this story says? What is being stated here? What can we take from this story? If you do this, then you will be more closer to the truth. Because we can't know what you are asking, but we can read the story and see what it is saying. What does this episode reveals about God? What does this episode reveal about the human spirit and its potential? The texts clearly states that everything would be at our reach because we had one mind and one goal and one language, right? You gotta udnerstand what is being singalled here. I think this story signals how God, and God is a broader term that I'm using, keeps the human spirit down. That when we are united and when we are engaged as one then somethign always comes and makes us not be like that anymore. In this case this authority figure comes from above and then stops us from doing that which we had set our minds to. It creates confusion. It creates a sort of chaos and spreads people around the Earth. What does this signal? This signal that the game is rigged. Everytime we are raising our spirits to the point of becoming autonomous something comes and makes it not like that anymore. This signals that there is some kind of force or authority who doesn't want the human spirit to be one and free. It signals that whatever is out there is stoping us from eating from the Tree of Life and have in mind that we have the right to eat from that tree. We have the right to live forever. It is my right to be autonomous and free and no system will ever hold me down.
