I never would have given this show a shot but there's literally nothing else to watch (I've seen it all) and it's pretty good but only once you get like 150 episodes in (it becomes more serious as it goes along, at least up to the point I'm at, which is episode 270). The big lore drops are few and far between due to all the damn drawn out fighting scenes, but listen to this little drop in the bucket for example:
>an important aspects of One Piece lore is that 800 years ago a Great Flood destroyed the Earth and wiped out a more advanced civilization which resembles Atlantis or Tartaria depending on context
>"The World Government" then took over and began erasing history and making it illegal to investigate real history and executing people who read ancient stone tablets
>The World Government is headed by some shadowy yet-unrevealed figures that are hinted to be... non-human, demonic/alien of some sort.
>The World Government destroys "The Tree of Knowledge" on this island where vast amounts of knowledge about our real history is stored
Keep in mind I'm only up to episode 270 so what they actually reveal, I do not know yet. I heard that after some "timeskip" many episodes from now, the show kinda goes retarded again like in the first 100 episodes.

Lots of other things too that's just one example.
