I have no way of knowing if he was larping or not, but he was talking about how much they have to prep before they approach a downed craft, and he said that the craft themselves, whether occupied or not, often create illusions and hallucinations in the people who approach them. He said something like “something happened, but not what they thought happened, those people were just shooting at ghosts” and implied that a UFO did go down in the area and it just made those people go crazy.

Skeptics like to paint themselves as inherently rational and above the superstitious rabble who believe in every little supernatural thing, but every now and then you’ll find a case like this where the skeptical explanations are more outlandish than the “woo” ones. The skeptics are just as if not more biased about the existence of the supernatural than the rabble, just in a different direction. Also, their somewhat frequent rhetorical claim of “I want to believe this” is often just straight up a lie.
