I think the Elder Scrolls have s few clues on how to do that. You need the right crystal for the right job. A crystal powerful enough to trap a demon's soul.

he might have gotten out in a few days now that i think back... if you want to trap one long term you'll need to stay on top of it for a while.
as for how to do it, you sort of just do it. strong will and intention. visualizing some energy to work with helps a lot with this sort of thing.
