What is the goal of Hermeticism? How is it different from Gnosticism or other religions?
Understanding the secrets behind the nature of the world
And it is literally derived from Gnosticism
To become a living god.
>>42158890Why though? Has anyone figured it out? Why is it a secret?
>>42158893So it’s similar to Gnosticism?
>>42158895Can you elaborate? What would this mean in practice? Has anyone done it?
>>42158861Did you just see this post that I made? If not we got a synchronism going on. >>42158855
>>42158861>What is the goal of Hermeticism? To complete the Alchemical work>How is it different from Gnosticism or other religions? It offers tangible solutions to the reality problem.>>42158896>Why is it a secret?Because most of the people living in the world are profane and would do bad things with the knowledge OR because there is a dark group who does not wish for the knoweldge to be dispersed among the people because the people would use it to turn Earth into Heaven and the rulers would no longer be needed>>42158901>What would this mean in practice?Do reshape reality with your thoughts alone.>Has anyone done it?Yes.
>>42158937I did not see your post. Do you have answers to the questions I’ve asked in this thread?
>>42158940What is the Alchemical work? What is the reality problem? Is the person who has done it a known historical or public figure?
>>42158945As bootleg baby Yoda once said "He who forces a shit becomes constipated."
>>42158900Quite so, the biggest difference is the final ultimate goal.
>>42158960>the final ultimate goalWhat is the difference between the two?
In more simple terms, Hermeticists want to enlighten the world and guide it, instead of just escaping the world.
>>42158959So is this one of those religions where you have to start practicing it without knowing what it’s about or what to expect?
>>42158967>enlighten the world and guide itHow is it different from Christians proselytizing?
>>42158978For once, Christians literally worship Demiurge
>>42158948>What is the Alchemical work?Generally speaking; transmuting lead into gold, but because of the principle As Above So Below, this applies to every aspect of reality, including Mind -- which is the core underline aspect of all reality ( God is Mind ) Then the objective becomes transmuting body, mind, soul, society, civilization and even Humanity itself from a dull state to an enlightened Godhood state.>What is the reality problem? It sucks and is based upon a false shadow of God. >Is the person who has done it a known historical or public figure? There have been many over the years I'm sure. Hiram Abiff, Hermes Trismegistus, Jesus Christ if you're interested in googling.
>>42158986>Classically Jesus was seen as the one going against the demiurge but now Christians are the one worshiping the demiurgeIt feels like I am taking crazy pills. You people really do just want an excuse to hate God but unlike atheists you accept God is real.
>>42158940>people would use it to turn Earth into Heaven
>>42158986Is the Demiurge bad according to Hermeticism (like in Gnosticism)?
>>42159014i agree it does seem paradoxical, but there is also credence to the idea that gnosis is a self-curing phenomenon so that in the greater dispersal of the truth, people would naturally be cured of worldly wickedness.but its a stretch and would require a substantial amount of faith to go out on that limb
>>42159032So is Hermeticism like Gnosticism then? Because what you’re describing is in Gnosticism as well.
>>42159040All of this stuff stems originally from Hermeticism. There are even concepts of Hermeticism that can be found in Daoism. Religion is just a symptom; it is a system man has devised in order to understand our reality. We all share the same reality, so it is only logical that all of our religions will have similar concepts and themes. That said, Hermeticism has something called Poimandres, the Mind Shepherd of Men which isn't exactly the same thing as the Demiurge. So they are different concepts in essence, but similar in spirit. Reality is never explicitly stated to be evil in Hermeticism, as far as I recall, but that it simply is not God and is not Perfect as God is.
>>42158999>>42159017In Gnosticism and Hermeticism, God (Demiurge) and Jesus are not the same thing.
>>42159082So what are they?
>>42159032>All things in Heaven are unblameable ; all things upon Earth are subject to reprehension.>Things upon Earth, do nothing advantage those in Heaven ; but all things in Heaven do profit and advantage all things upon Earth.>The Earth is brutish ; the Heaven is reasonable or rational. If you really think Earth can be turned into Heaven you have no fucking clue of what you are talking about
>>42159088God (Demiurge) is the usurper that cast a false shadow over this world in an attempt to dominate it. Jesus was a messenger/son of god/incarnation of god (depending of speciffic sect) trying to lead people to the truth, and gnostics and hermeticist being the followers of his true teachings.
>>42158861Sounds like hermitism, which is cool
>>42159100So is there any actual difference between Gnosticism and Hermeticism?
>>42159096What is this quoted from?
>>42159121http://www.ancienttexts.org/library/egyptian/hermetica/ch1.htm>>42159096>The mind is its own place, and in it self>Can make a Heav'n of Hell, a Hell of Heav'n. >What matter where, if I be still the same,>And what I should be, all but less then he>Whom Thunder hath made greater? Here at least>We shall be free; th' Almighty hath not built>Here for his envy, will not drive us hence:>Here we may reign secure, and in my choyce>To reign is worth ambition though in Hell:>Better to reign in Hell, then serve in Heav'n.The Mind has within its power to turn a Heaven into Hell and a Hell into Heaven
>>42159116Are you for real? It has literally been answered several times both by me and the other anon. >modern people can't even skim a basic wikipedia articleI wish I could give up on the world
>>42159166There are different posters in this thread saying contradictory things.
>>42159176There are only two of us. And all of it is true, because gnosticism and hermeticism each have quite a few different sects.
>>42158999Not our fault you decided to start worshipping Yah Ba'al and ignoring Christ. Some evangelicuck sects are so deep in their yah ba'al worship that they are relegating christ to a secondary figure below Yah Ba'al and its chosenites.
