They made the loosh farm as mundane as possible for the utmost efficiency. You can't gather energy in a cool realm of wizards casting fire and lightning with dragons and mystical creatures as much as you can from one that is boring and devoid of intrigue. If you start actually enjoying your time here instead of seething at your overlords then you don't generate the energy they want.

Think about the movie Monsters Inc, but instead of collecting screams from children it's collecting seethe and suffering. And it's not like you can't have a universe without bad things and suffering, it's that the system at some point has been completely hijacked and is now being abused. There is no "natural" suffering in this world we live in, it's all done deliberately and meticulously, probably recently in the past couple of thousands of years. The 9-5 spiritual cage jobs aren't a natural part of the universe, it's someone abusing a pocket dimension. I think the entire point of life isn't to learn some lesson, it's to escape the cage we're trapped in.

Bit of a cringe comparison, but if you've ever watched Rick and Morty and there's that episode of evil Morty finally escaping the finite central curve where Rick had "walled off infinity" I kind of imagine our situation similar to that, we're probably in some pocket dimension of the actual real universe which is much much bigger than this one, endlessly harvested over and over again as some sort of violation against the natural state of things. I don't think it's too hard to leave though, all you have to do by the looks of it is just detach completely, preferably before you die, so you don't have a reason to go in the loop again.

Yes everything appears to be built around the goycubes. They send you to school for WAAAY too many years because they think you aspire to work the cage. Half your time in the simulation is spent being forced to go to places that you don't like. If they can make anything why did they choose to make something so unpleasant?
I think the people who enjoy the cage create a time loop that anchors them here forever and it effects how the simulation runs. They are a black hole distortion, everything orbits around the goycubes.
My other problem is with how they perceive what is enjoyable to them. If they finally decide they want to get crazy and live to their potential what do they do? They gather in cement buildings and clap for each other. There are so many venues and events where people can just stand and clap for you, it's crazy. Their dream is that one day everybody recognizes their brilliance and they clap for them at a ted talk. Everything is too slanted to feeding narcissism, there are infinite options for you if you want people to admire you for existing.
