so i follow a lot of smaller channels, mostly for gaming. happened upon this video about an exe this youtuber received via email. the whole thing is encrypted in a way that doesn't make sense imo. there's an index file that the program can decrypt on the fly but the user can't access the whole thing directly. it's long (70ish min) but it gets kind of unsettling around halfway through:

she opens in a VM, and apparently it's a locally hosted wiki about a band that as far as I can tell never existed. the wiki references bob dole winning the 1996 election, multiple times. there are talk page contributors who casually mention things like "debt compliance" (???) -- they also reference dole winning a third term. the contributors were active from roughly 2002 to 05 and then all suddenly went silent at the same time. and the wiki's own homepage basically says its purpose is to document things that have been deliberately erased from history.
