They assume they're dirty or wild but the domesticated pet rat is intelligent, clean and trainable. Im also part of a bat conservation program and took a course with a biologist about bats. Same thing. Theyre clean, helpful, disease free, intelligent, ect. People have this problem with if it looks ugly its probably bad. Cute rats thank you for sharing your little ones

This is reminiscient of the visage of Saint Peter in the Christian faith when they were crucified, albeit their cross was also aligned facing downward. This was done as an act of piety on his part to distinguish himself from his teacher Jesus Christ's own crucifixion, who was hung facing upward. On this card, the cross from which The Hanged Man dangles is upright. With this juxtaposition, it's symbolic of that humility, while also recognizing the divinely led nature of their sacrifice.
