The canonized ones are there for educational purposes and for giving people tangible examples. Like pretty much everything prescribed by the church, it is a tool for inculcating obedience, i.e., controling simple minded peasants. So...multiplied by millions of peasants (worldwide, millions of man hours per day), that's one hell of a lot of controlling power indeed. Incalculable really.
They're just beads to help you count the decades of the Rosary. They're not some magical voodoo fetish. They are quite pretty though and I particularly like when they're perfumed.

The idea is that if you really believe in eternal life then Mary and the saints are alive in heaven with God, and what you’re doing is asking them to pray for you the way you may ask a friend or family member to pray for you in a difficult time. All the “prayers” to saints have the form “pray for me/us”. That said, there is really no wrong way to pray according to Romans 8:26-28, as long as you love God.

Ultimately the Rosary is about Jesus and the Gospel. It was easy to pray if you didn’t have access to a Bible, though just reading the Bible and meditating on it is the most efficacious form of prayer. Everyone has access to it now on their phones so the justification for the Rosary doesn’t apply as much but I mean if you really don’t want to read the Bible the Rosary is good too.

Daniel-san thought waxing the car was retarded, and didnt see the value on it when he just wanted to learn karate. It was until later that he realized he was learning karate despite him not knowing it. I'd argue thats what the Rosary does. It forces you to sit down and dedicate time to someone other than yourself and induces a meditative state as you pray since a Rosary is around 20 to 30 mins. It refocuses your mind on whats important and really helps you evade tempation when you feel reaply tempted. Same goes for prayer in general. As in before a meal or something. Keeps you more in control of yourself, and keeps a sense of gratitude in you. Being thankful by how God has blessed you and how He has kept you safe from worse. I dont pray the Rosary every single day like I used to, since I see it as a apiritual tool when you are feeling distressed. But still keep the brief prayers before every meals. Just to keep me grounded. Just my two cents.
