>>42220778information is the result of pattern recognition. the ability to send and receive information evolved over time, and exists in primitive forms in other species. it starts with thoughts, translated into something external (language/art) which conveys those thoughts from one mind to another. the translation is physical (writing, sound waves, images) but the meaning is derived from the brain's pattern recognition. thoughts themselves are best described as patterns of electrical signals in the brainso i guess, best put, information is transcribes and decoded via physical and/or chemical means, but the meaning itself requires a thinking mind to become genuine "information". you could thus argue information is more of an effect than a physical thing ultimately, everything that houses or transfers that information in the meantime is just the middle-ground between the original input from one mind to the output into another
