I used to see myself as the victim, but then I graduated to being the rescuer with the "wounded healer" archetype. Naturally this gets me involved in drama constantly, but I don't really mind. I'm helping people, which makes me feel good about myself, and while I realize that is somewhat parasitic, it's also symbiotic so I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing as long as the people I "save" are genuinely being helped by what I do, and not just being sources of validation for my narcissism.
