The only real purpose of these organizations would be that of either banal human competition or pure evil. I work freelance for God. The hours are great but it’s a lot of work to get anywhere.

The only way to actually get recruited for secret magic orders is to unironically cause problems for them. Messing with and waging war on orders is the only way for orders to notice you while also being your test trial at the same time, and typically once you cause enough trouble to be noticed you will get an invite before you get serious action taken against you.
