If you were copied (your brain scanned) and loaded into a robot, would you be at peace knowing you weren’t actually real or would you try and cope and say that because you’re conscious therefore you’re human
>>42265336Just stepping in to say, if you liked SOMA play Replaced. It's extremely good and faces a lot of consciousness problems as well. It's a 10/10 story. I'd maybe play on normal or easy because the combat is a little janky but the environments, music, etc are all beautifulhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Egkzeiy6yp8
>>42265371cool I'll check it out and by that I mean pirate it
>>42265396Thank you. Its nice to recommend something and actually have it tried out. I think you'll really enjoy it. It feels like a cross between little nightmares, soma, and metal gear
>>42265336I haven't played Soma yet, do you mean not real as if a copy and not an original? I wouldn't mind being a copy of someone, it's shitty but what can you do.
>>42265508in soma they figure out how to scan the contents of a brain and reproduce the original mind via a simulation. The simulation can exist at the same time as the original and keeps all memories, thoughts and feelings from before.
>>42265508basically it's like that reddit theory where teleportation doesn't actually teleport you, it kills you. And the person that spawns at the teleport location is just a copy of you that thinks it's youexcept you get put in a robot and the you that was human continues living
>>42265336You forgot that you, the player, is also a "character". So the conscious problem isn't really a problem.
>>42265336I don't need to be the original or human to be a conscious being.
>>42265336I'm someone, due to BPD, who basically has amnesia. Amnesia is not like how they present it in movies and games where you can't remember your past, per se. Rather, what happens is that you have extreme difficulty forming new memories. There are things I am reported to have done that I simply have no recollection of. Moronic idiots would say that that me back then is a separate consciousness and different person simply because I cannot remember the event. But that is not true. Altered Carbon fags can go rope themselves.Whether or not I am the original, whether or not I am "real" doesn't really concern me. What matters, to me, is what I currently remember, and my current qualia. I view my personal consciousness as sacred. If I encountered a copy or original, I would also consider their consciousness as sacred as well. We may share experiences and memories. We may be the "same" person... but I am me. Here. And now. And they are themselves, here, and now. But they are also not me.The only concern I would have is who gets property ownership of what. The now far more complicated web of relationships now formed by having to share people with another. And no. I would not step in the transporter in the example provided by >>42265793. That's death, full stop. I would refuse.
>>42265336If I had awareness as a brain scan then clearly I'm real. If my brain scan was telling me it was real I wouldn't believe it.
>>42265371>Minimum OS: Windows 10Oh looks like I'm never playing it.Anyway..
>>42265508The game is over ten years old you should get around it to eventually
>word somaOh look another example of you guys taking an element from something that doesn't belong to you and turning it into something completely different so that you guys end up poisoning the well and confusing the messages for everyone that is or should be truly involved in something. You guys belong to a cave never to come out of it ever again.Retards.
>>42265336Good thing that's fiction and so there's no real point in pondering it as if it were a reality. A useless thought experiment if you ask me. One I don't have to worry about in the here and the now.
>>42266651>We may be the "same" person... but I am me. Here. And now. And they are themselves, here, and now. But they are also not me.Agreed.
>>42265371It looks similar to this game to me
you're conscious and therefore 'human'. id be interested in exploring the differences in conscious experience, like what a lack of timed hormonal drives would do. but a conscious being is alive by definition.i have no reason to experience any additional existential dread than i did before. simulacra is a separate existence from the original.
>>42265336>you're not the original, I am!
>>42266813I'm prescribing you a shotgun shell to the brain to cure your faggy schizophrenia.
That would be awesome if my consciousness being loaded toa robot. I could achieve so many things. I could make myself a farady cage to my processing unit that block anything from reading my electrical signals. I could exchange my parts if malfunction.
>>42265336Robots are real, anon. I've seen them.
>>42267585but (You) aren't transferred into the robot, you're copiedyour human body stays the same, but now there's a robot that has a completely functioning copy of your brain in it
>>42265336>If you were copiedNot possible.I am not my brain.Brains are not conscious. If a robot is conscious, it is because there is a soul incarnated.
>>42268640If that's the case, I will check out, the robot can take over my spirit.
I am me regardless of what form my prison takes or how many instances of me are concurrently (psuedo)incarnated. But because I will always recognize and collaborate with myself, anyone who has the capacity to copy me, never would. You wouldn't give an inmate keys to additional cells, after all. The whole point is to lock them inside just one.
