>it's Sunday morning, you are about to walk through the doors of the Church you have been attending for years
>the earth trembles, Jesus comes down with the clouds with great display of power and heavenly forces
>he announces that the end of times is finally here, and everyone who does not stop what he is doing and follow him immediately, will be turned into a pillar of salt

Will you follow him, or will you walk through the doors of your church as you intended?

I asked my wife (who is a catholic hardliner) yesterday. And she was 100% on still going to church and disregarding the direct orders of God.

It just blew my mind. I asked it like 10 times to be sure she understood, but she didn't budge an inch.

Let me know your answer, your denomination/religion/atheist etc. This question is for everyone and I want you to just answer it in the assumption my scenario was real, even if you don't believe it could be. It's a thought experiment sort of to see how people think.
>>
>>42267826
That's because church goers aren't actually religiously minded individuals. They're just little peasants acting from habit.
>>
I also asked her what if people like us ger married and the husband is agnostic/atheist at the time of marriage, then becomes a devout Christian who insists the wife leaves her church and goes to the one he believes is the right one. What then?

She said then divorce.

I said so isn't the wife supposed to submit to the husband in all things? (As the Bible both in OT and NT clearly teaches)

She said no, faith and salvation are individual, so divorce it is.

I feel like I have to divorce her for this reason (srs) even if I am only agnostic at this point, the writing is on the wall that she has just been performing subservience to pull the wool over my eyes, but inside she is a hardline feminist.

Discuss/advise

Thanks
>>
>>42267839
I felt the same thing. It's crazy. Just mind blown, also check >>42267843

I'm the same guy. Been investigating the Bible for almost 20 years as a truly curious agnostic hoping to find God is real
>>
>>42267847
you wont find the true god in the bible. either read stuff like the gospel of judas or the avyakta upanishad and upanishada in general. bet you didnt think that works, it does i found god after ten years of search.
>>
>>42267843
I was gonna suggest divorce too or not putting a ring on that bitch in the first place.
I get that with time a marriage mellows out and you won't be in the honeymoon phase forever, but if she so easily can threaten divorce than she won't have a problem cheating on you.
I'd say get a lawyer and cut your losses.
>>

>>42267826
Also to awnser your question. Even as an apostate I'd definiatly join up with Jesus and help him create the millienial kingdom. Even if I wouldn't be turned into a pillar of salt.
>>
>>42267826
No, I think Jesus is a myth so I wouldn't follow "Jesus", I'd assume it was a fake religious event planned by the el-ites/fallen ones honestly. A soul trap if you will.

In fact, I've heard Christians say they think an alien invasion would be used to cover up the "rapture" but I feel it's the other way around. I could see people following some trap or getting sucked into a portal thinking it's their God and world leaders doing damage control.
Religion already makes people fanatical and dogmatic, what the fuck do they have "Voice of God" technology for? It's not just the US.
>>
>>42267847
Ill give you a hint. Genesis and revelation go together. First shall be last and all.
>>
>>42267826
>he announces that the end of times is finally here, and everyone who does not stop what he is doing and follow him immediately, will be turned into a pillar of salt
I'm not even Christian but that's a retarded hypothetical. That's nowhere in Revelation so what is even the point of asking something like that?
>>
>>42267826
Stop and follow Jesus. Duh. This was the whole point of all those centuries of going to church.

Thats like going to the movies, and when the movies end, you sit by yourself and watch the credits as everyone with a brain leaves the theater. The credits end and you stare at a black screen until the janitor kicks you out.

Thats basically what you're doing if you dont follow Jesus
>>
>>42267826
I'd check the Bible to see if the prophesy had changed, and if not or if so I'd probably assume some antichrist shenanigans are going on for breaking prophesy so I'd probably still go to church.

Not that I regularly go to church anyways.
>>
>>42267826
>and everyone who does not stop what he is doing and follow him immediately, will be turned into a pillar of salt
When He comes in glory it will be too late to choose. Rather the judgement will begin.
>>
OP here, back after some family duties. Reading your replies.

I went to catholic church again today with her and I was wondering why they allow women to read to the assembly. The Bible clearly teaches women should stfu in the assembly.
>>
>>42267985
Could you tell me more about that? Cliffs and how did you find God? Eventually you found out it was real?

I feel like nobody ever understands what I mean with "still investigating, could be a big nothing, could be huge" after like 20 years

>I'm a human

Where do you think I should go check out that you made before I attempt to destroy myself again to no avail? Asia? French Polynesia? Spain? Somewhere else? South America? Hawaii?

What do you think, what beaches?

Are you talking about a Project Blue Beam/Antichrist situation where it might not be the real Jesus? Otherwise, I don't get it.
I don't want the world to end now either, but what - you gonna go home and pretend nothing happened?
>>42267843
Flat out divorce for any other church? That's messed up. At the very least it'd be something to discuss.
I personally wouldn't suggest divorce though, especially if you have kids. For my limited Biblical knowledge, I don't think it'd be Biblical either (unless she's cheating on you).

Adding to this a bit, you should never trust your senses, and never trust your thoughts, because those are always partial and relatively unconscious symbolic illusions. As it is said in the Holy Bible, lean not to your own understanding.

Unless Christ comes back and is able to materialize political titles of power, armies of slaves, thrones, crowns and gold bars from out of his ass, then the leaders of this world have absolutely ZERO use for Jesus.
ZERO.
He wouldn't even make it through the front doors of the banking temple to even get to a single money changing table to flip it over.
And if humanity did find proof of God....they would expect the ability to use prayer like wishes to a genie, and have The Creator whoosh pieces of food and drink into their mouths, and remove the shit from their ass before it ever passed through the hole....thusly saving God the humility of being forced to wipe it for you.....

The first time Jesus had to do a fucking magic show like a clown and juggle fish and wine like a jester.
Could have snapped all of your greedy rat necks like bugs....instead humbles and lowers himself beneath you to try and teach you some humility....some compassion....forgiveness.....
And we see how that turned out, your greatest Masonic constructions and buildings, your largest skyscraper temples in every city are money lending FIAT for profit banking temples dedicated to your god you worship money.....

Naw....aint no fucking magic tricks Jesus could do to convince you to change and turn away from the greed, exploitation, human trafficking, slavery, worshiping unbacked paper FIAT slop money, not even a golden calf statue....not even worshiping unbacked paper FIAT money slop...

......worshiping digital 1's and zero's ....worshiping fucking computer code .....worshiping logic gates.....

What magic trick could Christ perform to change that?
How many would Moses have to slay to turn them away?
How many fucking floods would it take?
How many pillars of salt?

Yes but that's because people don't follow what is actually in the Bible (?)

I would assume I am suffering a psychotic break and use what's left of my lucidity to ask the nearest person to call 911 and get an ambulance to take me to a hospital for treatment. I firmly believe neither God nor anything from or of God will speak to me directly and anything that seems as such is either (most likely) insanity or a demon wearing the mask of God. I don't think it's impossible or even unlikely for God to reach out directly to a person, but God is omniscient and will know my cognitions and that I would assume I was insane or unfortunate enough to be targeted by demons. I'm Catholic.
>>
>>42272516
Thanks for your reply. Why do you believe that?

Revelation 1:7
[7]Behold, he comes with the clouds, and every eye shall see him, and they which have pierced him, and all the tribes of the land shall wail because of him. Yea. Amen.

False. You made up this thread. You're Indian.

Remember that you will die and after that there is the judgement. It's not looking good for you based on this post.

My rationale is actually explained within the post and my assumption of anything spiritual being psychosis is rooted in my understanding of the fragility and error-proneness of the brain.

>Flat out divorce for any other church? That's messed up. At the very least it'd be something to discuss.

Jesus teaches that you are supposed to be radical in your beliefs even if at the cost of strangling from your family

Matthew 10:34-37
[34]Do not think that I have come to send peace upon the earth: I have not come to send peace, but a sword.
[35]For I have come to set a man at variance with his father, and the daughter with her mother, and the daughter-in-law with her mother-in-law;
[36]and they of his household shall be a man's enemies.
[37]He who loves father or mother above me is not worthy of me; and he who loves son or daughter above me is not worthy of me.
Although it doesn't mention husband. And other parts clearly mention the husband is the lord of the wife etc. It's confusing to those who aren't experts like me and her, so I can respect where she could be coming from

Please come back 12-24h ours or so from now to discuss further
I have to go to work and and really enjoying this chat among the faithful

>he announces that the end of times is finally here, and everyone who does not stop what he is doing and follow him immediately, will be turned into a pillar of salt

The trouble with this hypothetical is, how would you know that it's the true Jesus asking? I've had plenty of meth heads shout about the end times or claim they were the son of God without any real result. I hate to compare Jesus to such a person but to the average Joe, He would appear as such. It's part of why I believe He was persecuted so much in His time. The Pharisees weren't in the wrong to judge the man so harshly from His claims because from their point of view He was just some random jagoff, from Bethlehem of all places! This man claimed to be God ("I and the Father are one") and that he was the fulfiller of the prophecy of Scripture, which is a blasphemous claim today, let alone thousands of years ago. Now, to be sure, Jesus performed miracles that informed his congregation that he truly was blessed and worthy of being followed but He Himself has said "Blessed is he who has not seen and still believes." To say that those who have not seen his miracles and still follow his ways are magnificent in their own right (and those who still deny until they see the proof themselves are deemed a Doubting Thomas.) So then, if Jesus were to come to the Earth today and say that we must abandon our ways and follow him only, would humanity believe him? Blessed are those that would, but No. I believe the people would not follow him. Not until they see the people turned to salt, that they would obey. But Jesus, being the loving individual we believe him to be, is not likely to commit such an act. It's possible, and well within his power to do so, but I'm unsure if he would. However he would not be able to commit his followers to his path without some sort of active miracle.
But can we ask the Son of God to provide proof of his credentials? Well, how dare we put God to the test? It's tricky
>>
>>42272563
To continue
>the earth trembles, Jesus comes down with the clouds with great display of power and heavenly forces

You do acknowledge that he would give a show of power, however what would be enough? With the technologies of modern time it's entirely possible that a man may present himself as descending from the heavens and with the powers of right and righteousness behind him. Smoke and mirrors, drones and lasers. Project Blue Beam comes to mind as a genuine assignment of attempt to replicate this exact show of force. Then what sign would be enough for the people of Earth to follow him? Must they see the holes in his hands with their own eyes? Must they see the marks of the crown of thorns across his brow? Humans are skeptical to a fault, oftentimes against their own interests and despite all evidence pointing to the contrary, that all things are in truth.
I want to believe that humanity would follow Him, hell, I want to believe that I would follow Him. But, unlike the Son of Man who sits at the right hand of God, I cannot see the goodness in humanity as He can. I want to, truly and sincerely I do, but I cannot. Thus, the pillar of salt awaits us. I pray for forgiveness that I cannot see goodness as He does. How I believe only He can.
>>
>>42272540
Give me a break, he's a mythological sun god.
>>
>>42272577
I get the point, but let's say in the hypothetical that there would not be any doubt. What would your answer be then?
>>
>>42272540
Oh? What will happen if I put out a cigarette in his face?
>>
>>42272577
Your post now makes me worry about the potential use of technology to enable the antichrist prophecies
>>
>>42273268
The Antichrist will use technology its very certain Modern Man has lived with more technology than all other Men of ancient times technology is evil its made to weaken the soul the mark of the beast will be a mind control chip the Antichrist will arrive when Atheism is greater than faith the false resurrection of the Antichrist will be in an era like today seen through all the world social media and thats why the Antichrist will be worshipped i believe the Antichrist will appear in this millennium
>>
Goycattle get on their knees and pray to a Jewish savior to help them deal in the real world. Meanwhile the people who deal in power build machines to impoverish and ultimately annihilate them.
>>
>>42267826
Not Christian so maybe that changes everything,
but what possible difference is there between going with God and seeing God in the place of worship?
If anything, I would be momentarily surprised that God doesnt go into the church real quick to say hi to God.
In fact, I was there when that happened once, and it was amazing. To see God come and view God, it blew my mind in the incomprehensible power of sucha being.
