Manson's mish mash of ideas was cleaver in another way, how it sounded crazy when put together. No one in his group was doing that on a regular basis. No one was thinking about the stuff he said because they were under mind control. *Fritz Springmeier wrote an excellent book called "The Illuminati Formula Used to Create an Undetectable Total Mind Controlled Slave" and other books about the subject. I don't believe what he wrote 100% because he wrote from a very fundamentalist perspective and didn't look into his own backyard of Protestant fundamentalism. However, he does call out Billy Graham and kind of gets into some of the things that are wrong with the Protestant cults. His material is very spot on for the most part.
