Peoples most common conception of God is the Father; which is a 1:1 derived image and feeling from a childs bond, loyalty, faith, and received love and protection from a father. Its not wrong, but its not totally right either; the real thing is more nuanced.

I define spirituality in two ways, depending on context.
The simple one is spirit are eternal things, as opposed to the material which are temporary.
The deeper meaning is that spirituality is the deep sense of contentment and joy that comes from an unassailable understanding of who you are, where you are, and why you are.

Anthropomorphism of overarching concepts, originally to encompass specific field of studies. While what these characters represented vary wildly between cultures, the knowledge they represented didn't. Ie want to learn agriculture, youd go to the priests of the god of farming, want a safe delivery for a child, go check the priests of the god of fertility, want to learn war, go to the priests of the god of war, etc. Basically just take any modern context where you learn stuff but instead of being about the concept itself you worship/try to understand a character who act as the greatest patron of this field of study. Make it easier to relate and apply the acquired knowledge, especially for plebs who have difficulty grasping abstract conceptualization.
