the needs are energetic, but we find chemical means to satisfy them
thus it follows that energetic methods can partially supplant the chemical means,
but they are nonexistent in the beginning of the path, barely there as some advancement is made
I can stave off hunger with lower dantian cultivation methods
but of course it only works for a little while until hunger comes raging back, because I have not achieved superlatively high levels
but high enough to make it work at all
as cultivation reaches significant heights
and i'm talking pulling 5+ minute breaths
then one is getting there
BK's notes on longevity breathing milestones were 30 sec, 2 min, 5 min
having gotten reasonably close to 2 min, I can speak from some experience
things will happen like metabolic boost same as finishing a month of lifting (45-55 sec)
but I did not reach stages like being impervious to heat or cold
so best way to try and reach this goal is longevity breathing and hit that milestone of 5 minute breaths for the duration of those hours of cultivation every day
