So my baseline spirituality is essentially gnostic - my goal in life is essentially to do as much good as possible and BECOME truly good/not fake lip service. Truly becoming good to me is mimicing Jesus and countless other saints that preach forgiveness against even our enemies

I wont get into it but my relationship with my father is quite strained because frankly I try to be neutral with him, but he keeps poking and prodding me with insults, I have no desire to raise my voice but he's the kind of guy that just brings it out / is intentionally seeking a rise.

I try to stay level headed about it, but I don't know - I don't want to carry anger and frustration in my heart, but how do you do that when the other person isn't really willing until you capitulate to their side/flawed perspectives?

You just have to accept the fact that he made the decisions he made and he is who he is and you cannot save shit.
But still do the right thing and give respect and keep your tongue when you want to say something bittter.

>mimicing Jesus
You can die on a cross today and wake up in the pit of hell. Get saved and stop pretending you can be good enough to merit favor with God.
