Rebuilding the thread since the last one archived. Appreciate all the input from the anons who helped me dig into the roots of this entity.Summary of "Jaggie Vrag" so far:>The Entity: A "cognitive parasite" from the Rust Belt. It’s triggered by lies or refusing a staring contest.>The Name (Chinese Theory): An anon suggested the name is a corruption of "Jiang-Gui-Fa.">*Jiang: Flow / Force / Command>*Gui: Ghost / Spirit>*Fa: Law / Method / Ritual>The Dialect Gap: Someone asked which specific Chinese dialect this comes from, but I have no idea.>The Slavic Connection: Another user pointed out that "Vrag" means "enemy" or "devil" in several Slavic languages.Still looking for anyone with more info on the original Chinese phrase or Slavic connections. Also, any stories from the Ohio/PA/WV area would be huge.I'm keeping an open mind. Is this a deep-seated local urban legend, a forgotten bit of folklore, or just a really persistent hoax? The more I look into it, the more I feel like I'm hunting a shadow.Prev>>42303027
I'm down
>>42322049>Slavic connectionsWell, if I had to theorize on that, I'd say Jaggie kinda resembles Yaga, as in "Baba Yaga", the famous slavic "wicked witch" character. And Vrag means enemy, as was already stated. The Jianghu connection also sounds plausible tho.I guess you need to look up which immigrant populations largely toiled in the Rust Belt in 1800s. Particularly if there were Polish or Chinese diasporas massively present.
He is coolin'
>>42322049Brother, this is gonna be tough. We're looking at more than just linguistics; there's history and so much more we need to look into.

>>42322882>>42325997>>42328376I’ve done some quick research. In the 1870s, Chinese laborers speaking Taishanese migrated to the Rust Belt. Due to the Chinese Exclusion Act of the 1880s, factory roles were taken over by Slavic workers, forcing Chinese laborers to transition into the service economy.
Cool story, bro
>>42331171Think of them as being as different as Spanish and Italian, or even English and German. While they share the same writing system (Chinese characters), they are not mutually intelligible when spoken.
