>feel rage, depression and despair>literally 5 to 15 seconds of metta>instantly feel niceI believe that metta is universal key to conditioned happiness in samsara. Of course you can't just rely on it and hope that you wont ever fall into the lower realms, but to know about such things is playing the game of life with a cheatcode. Apparently metta is not only extremely potent cause of merit but also a "trigger" which causes accumulated merit to ripen. Therefore I'm doing an experiment. In near future Pluto will trine my Jupiter in 11 (chart ruler) and Jupiter in cancer in 8th conjuncting my Sun and Mercury will trine my natal Pluto in 12th. At the same time Uranus and Pluto will trine my MC. I will intensely meditate on metta to try to make best of this transit. I will report in time.
>>42324641how do you do metta, did you read about it in a book or something? what do you mean by it ripening accumulated merit what do you use merit for? Also why do you care about astrology in this case isnt metta a buddhist concept and thus astrology does not apply?
may you be well and happymay all good things come for youbut may you stay well away from me
>>42324681who gives a fuck if it applies. we apply it, nigga
>>42324681astrology is astrology and buddhism is buddhism, two different thingshttps://www.accesstoinsight.org/lib/authors/buddharakkhita/wheel365.html
What is metta?
>>42324688seems like an unnecessary step, why limit yourself?
>>42324721"Benevolence", the first of the Brahmaviharas (Buddhist virtues). You wish beings (like scorpions, mosquitos, ...) well, even though you may not approve of them or desire their company. It is important to start by wishing yourself well, then your family/friends, a neutral person, later your enemies... and gradually all beings. Do NOT limit your Metta to only a limited group. The only exception is deceased people. Do not wish them well. Also, exclude beings which arouse sexual desire.
>>42324710is it just me or is it exceedingly gay to go through all the cardinal directions one by one like this? would make me want to kill myself
>>42324759it makes it more focused, i guess
>>42324759>arbitrarily go through non-cardinal directions in one plane onlyArchonic
>>42324641Indian hands typed this nonsense
>>42324746>The only exception is deceased people. Do not wish them wellWhy?
>>42324759if you read buddhist scriptures, they always do this shit. they are very, very repetitive. i think the point is to just be extremely clear with everything.
Yeah I read somewhere that the repetition is to drive the point home. Also saying the same thing over and over more times then the number of sands in the Ganga.
>>42324641I did metta for Donald Trump.
>>42326135the repetition is the point, both to reinforce it within you and by building a stronger and stronger circle of energy as you go around and around repeatedly. the directions are important too, though you don't have to worry about up and down too much. your body itself is already acting as a grounding rod of energy between earth and sky so you're forming a column not a bubble. the column connects to planes both higher and lower while also forming a protective circle of positive energy on the planes where anything bad can actually affect you.
>>42327775how do you know all of that?
>>42329559how do you think
>>42329559because among all the other effects of chanting these mantras, you're also working the same principles as a basic banishing rite. you're invoking the divine in each direction (what else could be a purer expression of the divine than love?) both to commune with it more deeply and to push away negative influences. it's very different from how I'd usually go calling on the names of god and the archangels and planets and elements and such to the same effect, but you're really doing many of the same things in the end. I do find the practice of metta helpful sometimes though, though I rarely go through that many rounds of it, and I do think there's something especially beautiful in this version, the way you're making sure to send those various unpleasant things away with a little bit of the one thing they're self-evidently missing the most
>>42324759>>42329868in fact, how many different sorts of symbolism could both jews and christians find here, in offering four times forty blessings to any and every person and creature and spirit all around them? powerful shit here.
