Thoughts on gnostic atheists? Is your lack of belief in a god a religious experience?
You have probly heard about Buddhists, many of who claim it's possible to experience the ultimate emptiness of reality. There are probably other groups believing something in the like.Gnostic materialists don't really exist; if they do, it's probably a case of underdeveloped epistemology.
>>42332857>epistemologydefinition please?

>>42332875tldr?
>>42332806I wonder where mainstream christians fit in here. Probably agnostic theists. They don't know, they only believe like the cattle they are.
>>42333941Nah, Christians literally believe God talks to them and shit and they're chosen. They're more insane than that.
Gnostic Atheist: Thinks God = Yahweh exactly as depicted in the Bible, and being certain that this character doesn't exist is equivalent to being certain God doesn't exist.Gnostic Theist: Thinks God = the schizo voice that spoke to them in their head that one time (or on an ongoing basis, depending on the severity of their mental illness), and being certain that they have heard a voice speaking in their head that wasn't subjectively theirs is equivalent to being certain that God exists.
>>42333957Especially new converts. Those people tend to be sickos and psychos. Criminal class, drug addict class. They would shatter in pieces without their belief in jahweh. And they know it.
>>42333961I guess a secondary case for Gnostic theism could include people who are truly persuaded by a priori "proofs" for God's existence like the ontological argument, though the fact that a lot of people are not persuaded by such "proofs" should lead them to have some doubt.
>>42333974A third case for gnostic theism would be pantheists, for whom God = anything and everything, so they can look at a pair of wet socks and think "Yup, God definitely exists."
>>42333961so agnostics = le good and gnostics = le bad
>>42334089Somewhat yes, but also agnostics = people who don't have a hyperspecific personal definition of god in mind and gnostics = people who do have a hyperspecific personal definition of God in mind. The supposed logical proofs of god, if they aren't gibberish, usually seem to rely on defining god in a very abstract way that hardly captures any of what most people imagine when they think of God.
