The purpose of this thread is to talk about the overlap of mythical and spiritual legends from around the world. This is the Xiangliu, the Chinese Hydra. While it is not a wild beast like in the legend of Hercules, it shares many other characteristics. 9 heads and its very presence is a poisonous swamp. It was an enemy of Yu the Great, the Chinese hero who battled the world flood. The flood itself is another overlap. What are some more examples that you guys think of? There are many.
The giant flying dragon myths were inspired by tornados.
>>42336021>giant flying serpents of destruction>sometimes made of fireActual flying lizards that breathe fire never existed.Neither do ayyliens, demons, fairies, etc. Ive disproven all myths.Magic does not work and your imagination cannot be used to harm others (i have hyperphantasia and have proven my imagination does not influence others, I can visualize a person who I am standing in front of doing something and they do not actually notice it)What people claim to be angels, demons, tulpas, etc, are pure mental figments and cannot influence others.
>>42336021I could see that. How does that representation translate to different myths?
>>42335622you mean this is a comparative mythology thread? and by overlap you mean shared mythological motifs? golden age, cataclysm by flood or world fire, chaoskampf between the thundering hero and the primordial chaos dragon, ordering the world from the dragon's corpse, first humans, primordial war in the heavens, primordial giants, eschatology/apocalypse, messiah/saviour, tiered cosmology (heaven/earth/underworld), etc.
>>42335622Noah and the Flood are just a retelling of Utnapishtim.Giants too are found in many cultures. Or craft/chariots used to travel great distances and fly. However, until they reveal themselves in the modern day, it all remains myth and speculation.
>>42335622>300k ya climate shifts>Monkey man brain primed from pattern absorbing in nature comes online>Simple tools and fire>100k ya another shift >Blombos becomes the mythical Genesis>75k ya Toba super eruption >Literal Revelation, seals are almost 1:1 description of volcanic winter>Leave africa around same time in last great migration across the red sea which after Toba could have made the mandeb straight more passable hence red sea in exodus>Man spreads then younger dryas presents the pressure for the pattern to move outward from the mind and beginning of agriculture >Gobekli Tepe built as an ark of memory for where we came from and the inner journey back to the source that is mirrored by the various planetary disasters we've survived Obviously there's more detail but you can find mirrors of that in basically every creation myth. The Hopi blue star kachina for instance is part of Genesis when the mind begins to open. First part of the journey. The ancients recognized this as squatter man whose appearance lines up with the network as a whole shifting from symbol to word. Gobekli is literally covered with animals. Once you see that for what it is the rest gets much clearer.
>>42336071Wait, you really don't believe in anything? How do you explain all encounters, magic powers, miracles, world cataclysm etc? People just hallucinate together some times? There's some biological hive mind of some kind in human beings that make them see the same thing at the same time?
>>42337804You can consider humanity a sort of distributed mind. Not hive in the sense of an obvious connection. But since we have the same origin point and nature operates the same ways regardless of the observer we express the same patterns just in our own unique ways as defined by our individual OS. It's like an AI. It only has the data it's trained on but can express it in infinite ways. We only have our core data set so far so only express from that. New Age = new data set. The cycle continues.
>Birth, Life, Death, Resurrection, that’s surface myth.>Underneath it’s Descent, Awareness, Trial, Sacrifice, Descent Again, Rebirth, Integration, the recurring spiral of awakening. This is the base pattern of almost all myth. From ancient stuff to shit on tv now. So the real question isn't so much whether there's overlap, there inevitably will be, but rather how the specific myth navigates this pattern and what it says about the culture that produced it and how easy it is to find yourself inside of it to better understand where you are in your own journey here in the meat cage. This is the story of all great heros. From Gilgamesh to Jesus. From Camazotz to King Arthur. From freddy kreuger to Bambi.
>>42336071You can't influence someone with just imagination alone. It needs to be fuelled with a strong intent/will. Bonus if charged with emotion and belief. You're speaking about things people strongly believe in and dismissing it. That's a pure brainlet athiest take.I've seen and experienced plenty of supernatural things in my life to not believe in it.
>>42337296Yes. But please go more into depth.
>>42337804I do not believe in invisible magical evil creatures that require ritual practices to propitiate. I have seen no evidence of magic powers. I have seen evidence of collective delusions.
>>42337337Tallest possible humanoids are 12 feet. Average ancient near east height was about 5'2. Masai tribes average 6 feet tall, likely isolated bronze age tribes of tall humans, but not hundreds feet tall like myths claim.Do not trust dreams and visions (hallucinations).
Another good example is Hercules and the lion. Sampson also defeated a lion, as well as Gilgamesh. They defeated them bare handed and wore their pelts.
>>42335622seems like you have discovered perennialism
