I'm doing some research on north american cryptids, and struggling to find much outside the usual lot (Dover Demon, Bigfoot, Jersey Devil, etc)

Anyone got any interesting stuff local to their region/state that they can share stories about? Either personal encounters, or just general details of them that I can use for reference later.

Sources like local news papers and such would be awesome.

Ask GPT or another LLM and use that as your starting point, I am not kidding. You will get more nuanced answers here, but you will have to scrounge through the larps, and a lot of writings about North American cryptids have nearly become lost to time.
>Sliderock Bolter in the South-West, giant mountain worm creature.
>Hidebehind, Slenderman for 19th century lumberjacks.
>Squonk, a small repulsive creature that constantly cries and turns into water if captured
this one is believable desu
>Wampus Cat, six-legged "cat" reaching 14 feet in length.
i don't think this is far fetched either
>Agropelter, Bigfoot with extremely long arms and a passion for throwing logs at people.
>Ozark Howler, a real life Yao Guai in the Great Lakes region.
These are the first six results that I got, and there's a lot more detailed writings on each of them if you google around for long enough.

I forgot that spoilers don't work in greentext format. Kill me.
