Sometimes we agree to things on the soul level, prior to incarnating. I remember meeting with grey aliens before being born, and they explained how my life would play out and where and why I would suffer.

When they take you, sometimes they are simply being inconsiderate assholes, but then some species lack the emotional depths and vibrance of an earthborn human. Some hostile and traumatic encounters markedly include instances of abductees saying "make the pain stop" and being seen to immediately. Ergo, there is still some consent component in many abduction cases, albeit in a strange and very "loose" way.

At times the taken are lucid and interacting but then memory wiped so as to preserve a semblance of normalcy. Essentially, we are fulfilling an agreement that is beyond one single human life span. From what I understand what they want most of all is our DNA and information about our lives. We're being "harvested" in that sense and some would rather we not be able to say "Stop doing that."
