If you are talking about the infinite, omnipotent, and omnicient version it is so disconnected and above the universe that we are nothing more than a passing thought or dream. If you are more in line with the gnostics then god is just a powerful being in control of our universe and uses it for its amusement which is evil. The hermitist believe that god is seperate from our world in a heavenly plane and generally guides the world and people to a better place, but requires we do the leg work in changing ourselves and the world as the effort in doing so molds the soul and makes you capable of existing in the higher planes of existence. Not evil, but requires you to be able to face evil. My opinion is all of these are true at different levels. My advice is just be more pragmatic and focus yourself on what is in front of you that you can affect to make your life better. The philosophy and stuff is interesting but it isn't going to do much of anything. You will just drive yourself crazy and go around in circles trying to figure out the unknowable.
