Why is the name of Jesus Christ used so often as an expletive? Even people who have never believed in their life will shout it instinctively when in fear or shock
>it’s just culture
I don’t think so. No other name has such power amongst everyone. It had to start somewhere.

I remember reading somewhere that around that time "players" as they were called were fined for taking the good lord's name in vain. So subbing in pagan references became the practice. I don't know.

That's just etymology taboos usually become swear/curse words if a certain taboos is strong in a given culture then words about will become expletives which is then repeated between confidants to increase in group cohesion

Bc actors in movies say it all the time. Bc the producers and whatnot reject Jesus. The dummies repeat it in real life.

It's an unfortunate consequence of not enough people knowing that they can use "Cheesy Luigi" as an expletive instead. Spread the good news.

But it is. Do you think parts of the world that aren't traditionally Christian use it so commonly in this way?

That's actually a great meme.
And new (to 4chan at least)
