Fresh faced or looking for obscure goodies? The show Fringe is pretty good for what it includes. Some Canadians hype Twin Peaks, haven't seen it yet myself.. Dark Matters is legit /x/ turf in grounded documentary-ish format. Star Gate is a classic. Enemy Mine might suit you for alien media? "Good job representing" isn't easy to define, that Christopher Walken movie based on the Communion? books is probably an accurate one, only seen clips of it personally. Games ? C&C Tiberium Wars has War of the Worlds flavoring, XCOM is a genre default there I think, Thea the Awakening is good for Slavic mythology.. Fallout 3's Mothership Zeta might amuse you for a take on aliens. The STALKER and Roadside Picnic franchise hits all sorts of bases. The John Carpenter Apocalypse Trilogy is also good, The Thing is widely known but Prince of Darkness and Mouth of Madness are more niche.

Not sure of the name, this one movie wasn't bad about some friends finding a seemingly dead alien they take home but it isn't. There's several cryptid modern B-movies, there was a decent one with a twist I'll have to look back up. Not sure on comic books, X-Men could get wild at times with cosmic politics, stuff like Sandman is also recommended for more esoteric angles. Dark Horse had all the AVP and Godzilla ones, stuff like that.
The Void is a solid Eldritch flick. Some really like Annihilation, might be mid to others, great visual journey even if the mystery plot isn't enjoyable. One of the 90s alien contact movies was also really good with the digitigrade legs aliens. Not sure if it was Signal or Contact. Or if the other one was just as good, around the messages included. The Abyss can also be a good one there though I think I watched that one too young or didn't focus enough on it.

The Ninth Gate is a top shelf occultism movie. Philadelphia Experiment is also classic /x/, haven't seen it just read a lot on it and Montauk Project. Scanners, Firestarter, even Carrie for psychic genre.

I'll second "Communion", both the book from the late 1980s by Whitley Streiber and the movie from the early 1990s with Christopher Walken.
The underlying story could just be a fabrication (Streiber was a fairly well known horror author before writing Communion), but it rings true to the majority of accounts from experiencers. It really captures the bizarre, surreal nature of encounters and the frustrating mystery involved with dealing with something nonhuman yet significantly more intelligent/powerful. It also does a good job conveying what it's like to try to resume life after experiencing something that defies your understanding of reality.
Most fiction has aliens that are either animalistic and hostile, or extremely wise and benevolent. Based on most accounts from experiencers neither of those extremes is accurate. They describe beings that are intelligent, enigmatic, aloof, but not entirely without empathy. That's how they are portrayed in Communion.

Deus Ex, it goes into a lot of conspiracies, like Men in Black, Illuminati etc, its also one of the best games ever made. Play it.

Stargate and Dark City are classics.

Politically speaking, Earth is a farm for suffering. Until people realize that suffering is a "valuable" commodity the world will appear to make no sense.

To demons, suffering is radiated energy. It is similar to how certain plants respond to particular wavelengths. Demons are spirits that have cut themselves off from the divine connection and so must find another way to get energy or else they will be erased and recycled. Suffering energy is not easily detectable to most humans but to demons it's all they have. Wars are factories for suffering energy. When you see robed figures standing around a sacrifice it's not because of ritual but because they are feeding the same way ants feed on a drop of honey. Ritual, money, politics, etc. are all just a means to an end.

I thought the final scene in Annihilation (2018) was one of the most realistic interactions with something truly alien that I've ever seen.

Most of James Tynion's stuff. Go with The Department of Truth for general conspiracies. More nuanced, Something is Killing the Children (monsters and secret societies), or W0Rld Tr33 (internet/technology).
