Why does it feel like humanity is losing skills we've had for decades? Arts and crafts mastered long ago feel like they're going away. It feels like we're not spiritually connected to what we make anymore.

>losing skills

So you're all in for getting gaslit by pig fuckers who like to spin any and all possible signifiers of their travesty existence eh? Side note: pyramids are more substantial than any.

I don't want to quibble, but the artes have always been the property of a relative few, not of "we" or of "humanity." And anyway, things change. You can't expect people to care about maintaining a knowledge of obsolete skills and technology. Our lives are all too short and nasty and ain't no one got time for that.

All the skill in the world isn't going to make green young growth timber behave like properly dried old growth of yesteryear

Reality is breaking down. A lot of creative people are attuned to this, there's no future purpose to create for. They don't know it conciously.

housing: one issue is that house used to be built by small local contractors that took pride in their jobs and sold the house to people who would become their neighbour. now they have been taken over by large national faceless conglomerates that prioritize the bottom line and the quick buck and disregard any long-term maintenance and repair costs as "not my fucking problem"
arts and crafts, probably a bunch of different answers for different crafts, but a lot made irrelevant by technological revolutions.

Nah mane , I have a mtv generation aka post boomer dad in his mid 60's who still can do all that.

I just go to his or his mates houses for a stogie and beer/bbq, they can show me anything they are working on even reno's on houses they know to do up.

I'm learning and it's friggin hard on your hands even if you are a menial worker like myself, most people get back/shoulder aka muscle probs by 40 if they weren't shown right.
