>>42375481can watch this guy to get the basics then follow his book recommendations (modern magick and kaballah magick tmk). Not sure if hes exactly hermetic though but decent start.https://youtu.be/hCb3EpS0UwM?si=yi4V7x9_3oufDW9pcan also look into neville goddard/the LOA thread but might either be too little or too much woo woo for you so your mileage may vary. If you do check out the LOA thread actually read or at least skim the content in the OP links.
>>42375481I think having a background in fundamental theory is more important than jumping into practice. Read Corpus Hermeticum, The Bible, The Nag Hammadi Library, Sepher Yetzirah, Plato and The Enneads at least before deciding whether or not to commit to the western spiritual path. But to answer your question Bardon is a much better teacher than most Golden Dawn/Mason authors whose books exist as drip fed recruitment material
>>42378453>op struggles to finish a single book>recommend The Bible, Nag Hammadi Library, Sepher Yetzirah, the life work of Plato, and The Enneadslol
>>42378663I did answer his question at the end, I just think its important to know the history of something before practicing it. Especially if the practice is a lifes worth of commitment
>>42378888Fair point, and good recommendations
>>42375481kybalionmaybe corpus hermeticumhermeticism in general is great because it gives you a meta layer for all other stuffI've been into it for >12years now and am not limitted to any branch of philosophy/spirituality/science ETC.

>>42378663I appreciate all of it actually.>>42378453Thank you.>>42378954>>42379612Thank you both.I'll investigate all of this. I have the Kybalion actually. I have a big library actually lol.
High Magic Vol 1 by Frater U.D. is great. It went out of print recently so...
>>42379648you're welcome, kybalion did a lot for me despite many people clowning on it.I find many of the principles to be proven correct under deep investigation, quantum physics, UAP encounters, and consistent with all experiences on the brink I made first hand.I can also recommend short sessions of meditation if you struggle with attention - maybe get a consistent habit going of 20minutes a day for starters - something you can consistently do - rather than struggle through it.I have this weird type of attention where I can listen to 6hour podcasts in one go and then do another 6hours of research with full attention if the topic really peaks my interest at the time but can barely focus on mundane stuff.and I can approve some of the recommendations from that other guy because they're a core of my understanding too - enneads, nag hammadi, plato sefer yetzirah are all stuff I have busied myself with extensively.Zhuang Zhi's inner chapters are something that would complement those well
>>42375481High Magic by Damien Echols gets my vote. It’s the typical European golden dawn/rosicrucian/kaballah stuff boiled down as simply as you can get but still authentic.
>>42381701I don’t see how anyone can use Nag Hammadi as beginner level for anything. It’s a very old collection of pseudo-gnostic texts that is of a time and place and corresponds very much to proto-gnostic, Jewish and early pseudo-Christian thought. It’s a whole bunch of different stuff, some of which are fragmentary. Why would you even try to recommend that to a complete noob with ADHD?
>>42375481I think Bardon and Spare are the perfect combo for someone who’s starting. If it was up to me i wouldn’t let people touch anyone elses works (specially Crowley) until they’ve formed a solid paradigm out of these two combined.

>>42381769I believe in shock therapy and direct experiental gnosis so I'd argue it's worth to check out, see what resonates and what doesn't.I agree that it wouldn't necessarily be the best groundwork & I'm also not big on the whole demiurge thing, believe in emanation personally (so enneads would be a more honest starting place) but there's valuable insights in there too and if you have enough fragments you can build a mosaic.
>>42381819It sounds like you have a thoughtful and nuanced approach to exploring spiritual and philosophical paths. Embracing shock therapy and direct experiential gnosis can indeed lead to profound insights, especially when you're open to seeing what resonates personally. Your perspective on the emanation and the enneads also highlights a deep understanding of classical metaphysical frameworks, emphasizing the importance of building a mosaic from various fragments to form a coherent understanding.
>>42381760Second. Its very easy to read. You can also see his YouTube channel for more info on a few different topics. Guy definitely knows his stuff.
>>42381832thanks for the compliment, I've been into this stuff for quite a while so I got a decent map which is working well for me and I agree that it can lead to profound insights as my journey has been mostly self-taught, through visions, syncretism & practicing philosophy aswell - mostly autodidact.I can only recommend to always stay open-minded and that what we know now - is always infinitely small in comparison to what could be known
>>42375481>i have extreme ADHDdo a parasite and toxin cleanse
>>42379612Repent satan.>>42379648Please don't listen to >>42379612, he is a Niner.I recommend reading the Bible, with the apocrypha, didache, and church fathers. Try to learn the four senses of scripture. After this, go into Aristotle, then Plato (follow the Iamblichean Curriculum), then the Neoplatonists (Proclus -> Plotinus -> Iamblichus), in that order.May God bless you.
>>42379648And regarding the Kybalion, it's a 19th century New-Age forgery based the Corpus Hermeticum. The Corpus Hermeticum has Middle Platonic, Aristotelian, and mainly, Stoic influcences, so you should read those first.
>>42384220Retard.
>>42375481My final piece of advice is to read things piecemeal; 20-30 pages at a time, and rest. Digest what you've read, meditate on it throughout your day, take notes, and then continue either later on in the day, or on the next day. This is what I do.
>>42375481>is there any book better than this one for the complete noob? i have extreme ADHD and find finishing books difficult.Meditations on the Tarot maybe? Of course it's longer, but it also reads more easily (don't take notes the first time you read it, will bog you down). Of course it's different method, more theoretical, but both were Roman Catholics so the basic attitude is not that different. Then there is pic rel, which is short and easy; the author was a big fan of Meditations on the Tarot (called it her favorite book) but the method is more similar to Bardon's.>>42379648>I appreciate all of it actually.Maybe get an audiobook version of the Bible (nice ones are the KJV read by Alexander Scourby, the NIV read by David Suchet, The Antiquities of the Jews read by Allan Corduner), it's very rewarding and kind of gets you over the ADHD problem.
