"They" in the tower of Babel story are not humans, they are the Watchers known as Principalities. Angels assigned to watch over nations and territories, like the so-called 'Prince of Persia' that delayed the Arch-Angel Michael in the book of Daniel for two weeks.

These angelic beings that had a duty to nations came together and rebelled against God. They wanted to turn humanity against Him by uniting mankind under their rule. This is why God was angry.

The story finds its conclusion at Pentecost where the Reconquista of Christ begins. We see mankind once more speaking a common and understandable tongue and giving glory to God. Since then Christ has been reclaiming lost souls and lost territories.

The information released by officials no longer refers to these beings as extra-terrestial but inter-dimensional. They refer to mankind as containers; literally vessels, the term used in the Scriptures. The demons are the disembodied spirits of the children of fallen angels and men; and they seek bodies to possess and ruin. The Holy Spirit of God can also fill us up, and in Him there is freedom; while with the demons and fallen angels there is only bondage.

The spiritual war wages on. Christ has already won but the wicked ones seek to defile and destroy whatever they can; as they plummet to their deaths they grasp out and try to pull others down with them. Resist the devil he will flee from you.

Jesus is the one who saves. Trust in Him and He will raise you up on the last day. He will not lose any that the Father has given to Him. The Father loves us and deemed us worthy of saving. Praise God.

Myth is just orientation in the chaos of the conscious mind in nature. Angels and demons are lenses of paradox to trace through yourself. Much the same way we'd see ourselves in movie and tv show characters. They just didn't have all the extra context we do. The Bible is meant to help you find the seams between paradox and move through it but people have lost that language since the industrial revolution and the introduction of linear life and time. It was never literal. Its anchored in the world to make it feel real so it survives a rapidly changing world.

There are hints all over the place in Scripture and extra-Biblical texts attest the interpretation.

Psalm 82 flat out has God talking to these gods that are given jurisdiction over the nations and saying they will die. The book of Enoch speaks of a first fall and gives background to Genesis 6. Daniel 10 speaks of the Prince of Persia holding up an angel until Michael intervenes.

The tower is probably a reference to the flood. God floods the Earth immediately after the sons of God (again similar to Psalm 82) go unto (have sex with) the daughters of men; creating the nephilim (which Josephus claims are the titans of the myths of other lands). The book of Enoch explains this as the Watchers (angels, principalities) rebelling and having children with humans and resulting in judgement. It also tells us the spirits of the dead nephilim cannot ascend so haunt the Earth as demons that seek to possess new bodies.

So these later fallen angels in the tower of Babel story are taunting God with the tower, essentially saying we have built a tower so tall that you could not destroy us with a flood like you did those previous rebels.

I find it makes a lot of sense and explains elements of Scripture that otherwise seem out of place.

God must feel so empty inside to the point he has to create things to distract Himself?
