I'm an atheist, but lately I've been getting into esotericism, apocrypha and pre-biblical theology, because it is interesting lore I can listen to while doing stuff. I am astounded by the fact that most Christians don't know shit about their own religion, that its origins are decidedly polytheistic and rooted, like all ancient religions, in trying to explain natural cycles and celestial events, that Cannanite god pantheon was very complex and some of their gods like Baal demonized later when Yahweh was being made into a monotheistic entity, that a lot of modern day Christian beliefs come from medieval church figures and are essentially fanon. I could go on, but I'm curious about your knowledge - what are the most obscure facts that however majorly impacted your view of any religion?
>>42376965Atheism is a path created and ordained by God.
>>42377056Perhaps, if you operate in that framework. And people who also operate in that framework shouldn't get angry at atheists, then. But that doesn't really matter for the purpose of the topic at hand.
>>42376965Not something obscure, but I just wanted to say that demons are not evil like what religious ppl want to make us believe. Magic exists. Bible verses are used by many witches to cast a protection spell or more. "God" is within yourself if you understand the Universe and your unlimited brain capacity. Ascending is what you should seek as a human being.
>>42376965I was homeless for a few months a decade ago. I had to go to a "nomadic homeless shelter." Every day at 3:30 we had to meet that this cockroach-infested meeting center to go through this long bureaucratic process before finally being bussed to a different church each night for food and sleep. Before dinner we would be preached to for up to an hour. It was a merry-go-round of Christian indoctrination, with the churches competing to "save the poor sinners" so they could hold converts up to their clergy and say they're doing God's work. I got an inside view of how grotesque the Christian-industrial complex is. All over America (and the Christian world) the most vulnerable people are being preyed upon by charlatans. The "charity" is just indoctrination bait.
>>42376965the fact that there's no mention of abraham noah or any of the torah cast before i think 600 bce or so anywhere if i recall correctly. and the fact that early judaism was a firmly polytheistic religion basically. also that the elohim are the sons of god, i.e. they were basically some kind of heroic brother band like the maruts with indra slaying the dasyus as they invade pillage rape and conquer. the fact that centaurs are just men riding horses but mythologized by the minds of primitive natives. that shapeshifters, bigfoot. witches, vampires etc. are all omipresent in any folklore. also the zoroastrian / rig-vedic split, where the religious lineage through zarathustra gave rise to and heavily influenced monotheism in the abrahamic faiths (around 600 bce). that buddhism is somehow tied to greek philosphy although the exact connection is unclear. the idea that the slaying and forming the world out of ymir's body is somehow tied to the myth of romulus and remus as a sacrifice type motif. things of such nature. i also wanted to say another random thing but i forgot.
>>42377155Forgot to mention that an actual homeless shelter would have been much better and solved so many problems, but because the Christians wanted to play savior and intoctrinator that's what we got.
>>42376965>im an atheistNo you're notAlso stopped reading Also sage
>>42377155>oh no these people fed and housed me for a night but they asked me to hear the message that inspired them to do so! you sound jewish
>>42377287Their own desire to be seen as good people did that, and the desire of the church to get more money. It's all a charade for some kind of gain.
>>42376965First and foremost, the scandals in the RCC hierarchy drove me away from any form of organised religion (I believe all of them are scams at best, and crime syndicates at worst). Then comes the fact that Christianity is mostly a Judaism-lite religion, and that was in term a derivative of Canaanite beliefs, with some odd Sumerian creation myth admixture. Ergo, there is nothing new in any of the Abrahamic religions. The whole spin into the UFO phenomenon brought me from an ultra-agnostic stance to agnostic theist lands, I'd say, with my current beliefs being a mix of Gnosticism and some of the Buddhist thought.Like anyone else, I have zero evidence that what I believe in is true or makes any sense, though.

>>42378699whats with people that did die and came back to life and are saying there is an afterlife and there was something like an heaven? all liars?
>>42377467>implying people wanting to be good is badyou're angry at the world. Practice gratitude and you will see life from a whole new perspective.
>>42378791Their testimonies are always heavily influenced by their religion. They are interpreting whatever they experience through the lens of their belief. Brain releases shitloads of chemicals in near death conditions, so it can be a trip for sure.
>>42379200I'm not implying it's bad, I'm pointing out it's not godly or whatever.
>>42378699>grows up and becomes a sun worshipper based
>>42376965I saw Jesus in Bambi and tmnt as a kid so I knew there was something more going on. We mostly lost the direct language but it runs through everything. Myth never ends it just updates.
>>42376965>what are the most obscure facts that however majorly impacted your view of any religion?I lucid dream, and explore that realm as if its the spirit world. I've enountered countless entities of all classifications and levels. There are undoubtedly entities that exist as angels which are not incarnated into material worlds like ours. There are other realms of humans too. Just last night, I met some people in an alternate earth setting. I asked what timeline I was on. They explained that in their world in 1848 Judaism and Islam had been reconciled as basically being the same religion. That had domino effects on their world, and it seemed a lot more peaceful than ours, but their industrial advancement didn't seem as prominent, though their technology was close to our own.
>>42379300But it is godly. You're imitating the nature of christ as an imperfect being in the material world. I promise, Christ is smiling down on these people. Please practice gratitude and I will pray that you find peace.
>>42376965> I'm an atheist, but lately I've been getting into… gay sex and pederasty. Enjoy hell.
>>42378791They all say the same thing. "Man the brain is crazy dude, it's just a hallucination bro."They won't account for the reports of things happening around them while medically dead, or in the other room, or other various strange happenings. They conveniently ignore those things and brush them off with no consideration.
Yeah fuck God, hes sending me to hell if I dont give him constant worship and follow the bible to every little nook and cranny. But then jesus says just to follow him and the commandments but to follow Jesus you essentially have to follow God so...
>>42379296>>42380222>just hallucinationthey cant use that excuse anymore since even controlled mainstream science had to admit some cases.
>>42376965I mean whatever bro be a degenerative faggot retard. Idc.
>>42379813You accept the crafted narrative of your church religion, while ignoring the history of it, the fact that it is basically a fanfiction of Torah which itself was crafted around the premise of one god, who in fact was originally a member of polytheistic pantheon. Jesus was one of many preachers during that time, nothing more. There was no immaculate conception, a Roman soldier was likely his father.
>>42379418Those media were of course influenced by Christianity's hold on cultural tropes, so if you saw Jesus in them, which also means you knew about Jesus beforehand (meaning you were raised in a Christian household), there is nothing surprising about you recognizing those patterns.
>>42379842I've never had gay sex or molested a child, unlike your religion's priests.
>>42381091And you accepted their help so stop whining and and try to emulate Christ. Try and think about how someone else feels for once.
>>42380222>>42380797You fail to be skeptical of such extraordinary claims, because you take them as supporting your own narrative. You could do it yourself, but here is the scientific take explanation from ChatGPT on those:Scientific explanations usually treat NDEs/OBEs as real experiences, but not as evidence that consciousness literally leaves the body.Main explanations:“Clinically dead” is not brain-dead.No heartbeat and no breathing do not mean every brain region instantly stops. Scalp EEG can miss deeper or weak activity.Residual or returning brain activity.During cardiac arrest, oxygen loss, CO2 buildup, anesthesia, and resuscitation can cause abnormal brain states: tunnel vision, lights, life review, euphoria, voices, floating sensations.Wrong timing of memory. The person may experience or encode fragments before full unconsciousness, during CPR, or while waking, then later remember it as happening “while dead.”Hearing may persist.Even under anesthesia or reduced consciousness, auditory processing can sometimes continue. Some “verified” details may come from overheard speech.Out-of-body sensations can be neurologically induced.Disruption of the temporoparietal junction, vestibular system, and body-map integration can create the feeling of floating above oneself.Memory reconstruction. After recovery, patients may unconsciously combine real fragments, guesses, medical explanations, family/staff comments, and cultural imagery into a coherent story. Some details are less impossible than they sound.Operating-room sounds, tools, conversations, and procedures may be inferred or later learned. The key question is whether the detail was specific, unexpected, recorded early, and inaccessible normally.Prospective tests are weak so far.Studies using hidden visual targets have not produced strong evidence that patients literally saw from outside the body. Some auditory recall cases are interesting, but not decisive. So the skeptical scientific
>>42381108Why do you think I am not empathetic just because I don't buy into an ancient cult? I am more Christian than most professed Christians.
>>42381134So the skeptical scientific view is: NDEs are likely altered-consciousness events around brain shutdown/recovery, later shaped by memory. Veridical cases are worth studying, but current evidence does not prove consciousness without brain function.
>>42381148>I am more Christian than most professed Christians.Selfglazing is not very Christian.
>>42376965You vaxxed and you know it.
>>42379813You don't know that, only God can know that. Even Jesus preached about the charlatans. They're out there, you have no good reason to admonish this guy's experience. If you actually took the word of Jesus into your heart, you'd know the way to handle this is apologizing for their selfish methods and hoping he will still accept Jesus despite this experience. You don't know those people, you just know they left a bad impression on someone and from a simple logistics perspective, were helping the homeless in a retarded and inefficient way so they could preach more easily.
>>42377100>shouldn't get angry at atheistsNo one does. Atheists get angry and try to remove religion from others.>>42377173>an actual homeless shelter would have been much better and solved so many problemsSure, but no one ever pays for those. Most on society are very explicitly willing to let you die in the street, unless some religion-based charity decides to do something about it.The idea of secular welfare is exceedingly new, and still actively attacked and torn down by atheists.
>>42377155You mean people worked for free to feed, cloth and put a roof over your ass and they took the time to try to make you understand why they did that? I see why you were homeless you ingrate. The Lord commands us to love one another, to give alms and preach the word. Those people were doing the Lord's work and were trying to enlighten you and save your soul.
always good to see abrahamic kikefaggot seething
>>42381134i gave you some cases where it was proofen that the person was not conscious but still could tell what was happening around him. that is my proof. you dont want proof you want big brother to admiting it so you cant deny it anymore.
>>42382084Yes, those charlatans are sure to get rich preaching the gospel to homeless people. Why do you people reject christ? You know "God the Father" isn't Yaweh right?
>>42383472So, you don't know how charity funding or government grants work, what's that hot to do with the rest of my criticisms against your comment? The yaweh shit is creepy, you're deflecting
>>42382384That's a proof of an experience that can be explained without invoking any deity. Hell, I would have no problem with an entity creating the universe if it was a good explanation, which it isn't, as it begs more questions than it answers. But 100% it's not anthropocentric, personal gods of Abrahamic religions.
