Purple is just a combination of blue + red, but the human perception cannot compute seeing those two colors at once so the mind invents (yes invents) a new color to make sense of it, purple. Purple is not a spectral color, and outside of our own eyesight it does not exist. It only exists to us humans. That's why it's associated with the mind and spirituality, because it is a color that our own spirits projected.
