Does anyone else get dreams about 4chan?I do occasionally but it kinda sucks cause using computers while dreaming is confusing. I spend half the time fucking with brightness settings, accidentally saving lines of text, zooming in & out trying to see better but never getting it quite right, rereading the same thing 40 times, etc.What's weird is my dreams about 4chan are weirdly consistent and almost always focus on this 1 board:/in/ - InterestingLike, ill boot up the 4chan homepage, browse /b/ [s4s] /r9k/ or some shit for a little bit without much care or fanfare, and then remember that theres this really weird obscure board i always forget about but suddenly thought to check for some reason? Yep, going back to the homepage and scrolling through the boards confirms it: there's /in/ - Interesting just waiting to be lurked/in/ is really fucking weird. it moves at the speed of molasses, with posts lasting for years, but doesnt have a bump limit or seemingly any constraint to the amount of posts on the board at once with necrobumping being common; you can open the catalogue and just scroll and scroll and scroll like falling down a rabbit hole. its a blue random board without a consistent topic, youre just supposed to post things that are, well, "interesting' (duh)the most common posts, like a good 1/3-1/2 of the board, are actually incredibly boring almost chatGPT style paragraphs of news headlines: like falling crime statistics, man saves cat from tree, popular travel destinations 2019, and so on. these usually get no or very few replies, but fit with a newfags idea of the board theme i guess?Another 1/3 of the posts are incredibly strange shitposts & memes that dont really make sense? Like people will be typing with somewhat coherent grammar but about things that are mad hatter. "Do you guys ever wonder what flan does at the witching hour?" "Yeah op, i constantly wonder about that" "But has anyone ever documented it before?"
I think these are shitposts and/or memes? they seem to follow patterns, with certain topics being repeated over, and over, and over, and over for years even if they make no sense.Another 1/3ish of the posts are pretty standard 4chan stuff. Posts that actually make a bit of sense about vidya, music, memes, discussions about the website and internet, screencaps & greentexts, etc. Just with a bit of that dreamy weirdness but the same argumentative acerbic tone most anons have across the boards.Surprisingly /in/ is pretty well moderated. there isnt really any porn, just suggestive SFW stuff. Gore is rare, but when it does appear its always animal abuse for some reason? One time I was very traumatized by this jumpscare .webm of someone using fingernail clippers to torture a pet turtle and now whenever I browse im more careful about opening up suspicious stuff.
I usually start off having a good time lurking the bizarre cesspit that is /in/. For whatever reason Ive never, ever posted despite browsing it dozens of times over the years? it feels like peering into some isolated, forgotten corner of the website with its own board culture that always surprises and enthralls. However, after awhile i get this eerie feeling of unbelonging, like i really shouldnt be there? Everything just sort of feels wrong; the nonsensical shitposts, walls of boring text, and unprovoked judgemental aggression giving off this atmosphere similar to a psychward. It starts to rub off on me and I start looking too deep into the random gibberish and shitflinging, feeling like some of the posts are subtly and indirectly talking about me and my life!? Gibberish shitposts from years back like "anyone else try armored mirroring lately?" getting bumped randomly with "back after all this time" in reply out of the blue. Or my own interests being strangely common discussions, like an overwatch character being the sticky for some reason, and my opinions about it getting shared and shit on despite me just being a lurkerEventually I either wake up or close 4chan out of paranoia, going to some other surreal part of the dream interwebSo, does anyone else ever browse this place while dreaming? Any interesting (heh) boards or qualities otherwise youve noticed? Also, whats the internet in general like for you in wonderland? the rest of my dreamnet is similarly strange
