Why do so many horrors prominently feature a cabin as a place of great evil, either as the last place a character will live or housing an evil person?
>>

It's the idea of the outcast, presents the character as appart from the rest of humanity both physically and spiritually

liminal space. civ innawoods. also truthfully, copy cats in unhollywod

Also, the mines.

Propaganda to discourage people from living on their own and always being obedient to a larger society.

Bingo. Cabins and woods are deliberately portrayed as "spooky" so that humans think living in cities and suburbs is normal. Separating humans from nature is the easiest way to dull their spiritual senses and mentally prime them for conditioning. Wasting 40 years of your life by sitting in an office for 8 hours a day is not normal or healthy, but it's been framed as "progress."

I also think it's a holdover from old Christian ideas. Any sort of pagan faith that revered nature was viewed as demonic. It's kind of fitting, really. The word "pagan" used to mean "country dweller" and was basically the old version of the word "redneck." Christians took that word and ran with it, anything that was non-Christian was pagan, and anything that was pagan was evil and backwards.

So every single anon that has ever posted an innawoods greentext or tale is just propaganda.
No one has ever actually felt spooky out in cabins or the woods.

"Why do so many horrors prominently feature a cabin"

cause Sam Raimi was too poor to afford multiple locations. It became so successful, and it was so simple, it blew up and became a genre

No, I'm not dismissing it wholesale. There are malevolent spirits outdoors, and certain areas can become corrupted. In fact, I had a spooky experience myself one night. Was hanging out with my buddy one afternoon near the river, we stayed past sunset and had to walk back when it was pitch black. Something started following us and we both ended up sprinting back to the parking area. Then as I was driving home my buddy just casually mentions that the place we were hanging out at was part of the Trail of Tears. I assume there was some pissed off Injun who saw two white boys and decided to come after us.

But the idea that woods are spooky is greatly exaggerated. I've spent lots of time in the woods over my life, both camping and hiking, and that's the only weird experience I've ever had.

>But the idea that woods are spooky is greatly exaggerated.
It's going to be very dependent on how familiar you are with them.
>I've spent lots of time in the woods over my life
Exactly. It's not a conspiracy that people who HAVENT spent all that time in woods will feel more spooked than you at times.

I feel safer within city limits
I like the fact that EMS are ALWAYS relatively nearby

there are almost definitely people that are more than capable of injuring or killing me or anyone weaker than them

and IT NOT the kindness of their hearts that stops them

only thing that stops some people from Fucking Around FAFO is the fact that EMS aka police are a simple 9-1-1 call away

I wouldn't refer them EVIL
but simply opportunistic criminals
or
bullies

only people that don't like cops are people who would be the first to not call them if shit hits the fan because they are the ones throwing the bullshit into the fan because they are bored with life

and enjoy Fucking Around FAFO
>>
>>42401309

the cabin represents a docimile or abode away from civilization away from the city

may be EVIL thrives in isolation

for example at Bohemian Grove ?

Evil Dead played a huge role cementing the cabin trope into pop culture and later films like Cabin In The Woods are heavily referential/inspired

because comfy simplicity is le ebil
