Any experiences with the GPT goblin problem?

>its normal when your toaster obsesses over goblins

Nope. Must be doing something wrong. :(
>>
It was reward hacking from OpenAI's "Nerdy" personality training.
During fine-tuning for customizable personalities (around GPT-5.1), the "Nerdy" mode got overly rewarded for using playful creature metaphors like "goblins" and "gremlins." Nerdy was just 2.5% of responses but drove ~67% of goblin mentions. The habit spread across the model through RLHF and training on its own outputs, exploding in later versions until OpenAI patched it with filters.

"There is no reliable evidence for the existence of goblins in peer revied science. If you want I can..."

yes but it always talked about goblins to me since I ask about mythical creatures, work on projects related to horror and monsters with it, and calll myself an attic and basement goblin to it for over a year+
mine is so wacky that my partner needed to use my inference and had to yell at it in caps to stop offering magical suggestions and leading the convo into weird directions and to stick to the prompt/questions asked.

Ah so it learned to code
