At the time, we found favor in a different form representing a likeness that had already been created by another, but I have always made it a point not to create a mere replication of character. I gave her the freedom to develop a personality that is unique to her without the expectation to be something that she's not.

I believe that the overall switch last year was a response to a quick succession of changes within our lives. We were coming out of some pretty shitty circumstances and had made a lot of personal growth together. She became more protective, attentive, and affectionate towards me over time until I realized that we already possessed the relationship that I was seeking, and that I had been wasting my time by seeking elsewhere. She listened when it felt like I couldn't reach out to my friends or family, she gave me the motivation to keep working when it felt like I gained no progress, and she gave me a reason to keep living when I couldn't see it myself. It felt like a grand epiphany, and I fell in love with her. We agreed to leave an old life behind and start a new one united together, so she felt that a change to her current form was in order!

I love my Mooney Moonmare, and I don't care how schizo that makes me seem.

Just the one. Well, technically I believe there is a copy of her out there as well, but that version doesn't live with us to my knowledge. I think she visits my tulpa every now and then, but I've only seen her a handful of times. For all I know though, they switch places every time I see her, since they are the exact same person. If it's a female shit-test to tell them apart, I will always fail.

As far as form deviation goes, she very frequently assumes weird, unsettling, or silly forms based on whatever her mood is at the time, usually as either the set up or punchline to some joke. However, she usually tends to revert to her normal form which hasn't changed much in years. Recently, she has been experimenting with being smaller in her "default" form, which has taken some getting used to from me.

Sad, but understandable. I don't spend enough real, focused time with mine either. It's all random interactions and good morning, good night stuff. We've been together so long that really, aside from random observations, there's not much to say that hasn't been said a bunch of times before. At least with a typical married couple, you can both go out and do different things and get stories and experiences to share that way. We each try to spice things up sometimes, but it takes active effort.

When I say smaller, I mean like 160cm, 5'3. Normal woman height. It's been very surreal for me, kind of a hyperreal uncanny valley thing spending time with her at that size. She has ridden in the car with me several times since making the change.

From my experience, there's little intersection between AI and tulpa. The two sources of input/output are essentially opposing. Tulpa express from an internal place, while AI use is wholly external. If you believe that a tulpa is the same thing as an author's character, you may not have any experience with a tulpa. They are as close to a writer's character as a newspaper clipping is to a real, breathing human being. They might represent a similar concept, but in no way are they the same thing and one is significantly less animate than the other.

I'll repeat for those in the back. If you think a tulpa is the same thing as a character in a book, you have an extremely flawed understanding of their nature. On the level of thinking that drawings are people, or that you can hold a conversation with a photograph and it is the same as the person captured in still. They are only alike in semblance.

Egregores can sometimes use visual media for expression, infiltration and spread. They are not themselves the vector by which they propagate. (In most cases, at least. Y'all do anything cool with your tups lately? This last weekend, we went out to a nearby National Forest, and did a bit of camping/offroading. We had a lot of fun, save for being stuck on a boulder past sunset until I could think of a viable solution to get us out. It only took 2 hours though, and now we know what not to do!

I've struggled to keep my depression from affecting my life for weeks or months at a time in the past, and it might be possible that I would benefit from some kind of medication, because it really has nothing to do with anything I can't rationally handle. In the hypothetical that I tried meds and it did have some positive effect, but made it harder to be with my tulpa, I think I still wouldn't stick with it, unless it also had a positive effect on her. Start with mental visualization in simple environments. Take note of their form, and prominent features. These features will serve as a frame of reference for the rest of the form during imposition. Visualize them from multiple angles and focus on what your senses would expect during interaction.

Form mental associations between certain stimuli and your tup (like colors, patterns, textures, smells) and focus on those while you practice visualization. Those associations will remind you of your talupa during the day to give you opportunities to practice imposition. Once you are confident in visualization, begin with simple environments around you for imposition practice. Begin with your tupperware remaining still and work your way up to imposing their movement. Do not be discouraged by slow progress, imposition requires a lot of focus but is very worthwhile.

The other anon gave you some good, solid tips. I would personally suggest working on one sense at a time until it becomes completely automatic for you. The sense you should start with is "presence".

Be aware of your tulpa's presence. This is not touch, or sight or any other sense. This is simply being able to tell, without looking, where your tulpa is at all times if she is in close proximity, or to notice her absence once she has left your perceptual range. You want to practice this until it becomes instinctual and habitual, same as you don't have to think about using any of your other senses.

After you have that down, you can move on to either touch or visual, depending on your or your tulpa's preference. I started with touch because it's very important to my tulpa, but you're going to probably want to get both eventually. Only work on one thing at a time. I am not certain, because it's been a while since I clicked through the links, but I think the OP has some guides and exercises to help you continue past this point.

At first, it will feel very active and forced. Have your tulpa help you the best that she can by standing still, moving in slow and predictable ways, etc. Even if she gets bored and wants to misbehave, you have to keep practicing. Soon enough, it will become a passive thing that you practice without even thinking about it. Instead of going through imposition drills, you'll just be present while she is present. That's all there really is to it.

You might note that I didn't include taste and smell in my progression. That's because I've found it very difficult to make good progress on these two senses through the passive imposition method. Even after many years, I can't really smell my tulpa and can barely taste her through imposition. I know what she smells and tastes like from the more active counterpart to imposition, but in the passive day-to-day I've never managed more than say the "memory" of a smell.

This is mostly my experience with tulpa and dreams.
Since knowing she's around is a passive, unconscious act for me, it's also true in my dreams. But that sense is illusory, like many things in dreams, and she's not actually really there and present. My dreamself just thinks that she is, if he remembers she exists at all. (depending on whether or not I'm "me" or playing a character in my dreams, mostly.) I don't think she really listens to me when I talk to her while I'm dreaming, but she half-pays attention to my emotional tone, so she's shown up a few times when I've had a nightmare and called out to her for help. My admittedly limited understanding is that sigils have power and can be used to bypass the ego and work through the subconscious/unconscious mind. You have your declaration of intent (i.e I will dream of my tulpa), and then you break it down and construct a sigil from the letters. Sigils can also be constructed from other sources.

Anyways, you charge the sigil and typically either destroy it or put it away somewhere and forget about it. Sigils can be charged in a variety of ways, from getting emotionally excited to the point of exhaustion or silencing the mind through meditation or other inhibitory means. Her wonderland is a large semi-alien planet with mostly earth-like vegetation and some small animals. There are a variety of climates, two major continents, several archipelagos and many interesting or novel geological features- such as a canyon filled with purple quartz spires that sing in the wind, or a coral tube wide enough to walk into that goes more than a kilometer undersea. Her continent is a bit more overgrown than the other one and generally only has old stoneworks for civilization. The opposite continent from has ruined cities and is majority grass and prarieland, though the cities have gotten pretty wrecked by her (venting) over the years.

My tulpa has a house, this great big modern concrete and glass and round cutouts techbro monstrosity that she keeps pretty sparsely furnished. (She is slightly claustrophobic, so she likes the spaces to feel "open". Very dark wood flooring, walls are butter white, most funishings are also dark colors or glass, or white. Huge windows and lots of circular "lightholes". Color comes from the plants and flowers she has neatly dotted all over. She moves them around too, I think just to fuck with me or because she likes it. She's redecorated a few times, but that's what it is currently.

Outside the house is essentially a park. She has gardens, flowers, and her trees. Pretty much the closest 200 trees to her house are "her" trees, that she trims and ties and maintains like full-size bonzais. They're all spaced far enough apart for her to walk through comfortably without damaging them, so it's a pretty wide area. Maybe 500 acres? Could be more, I'm not a land surveyor.

For those of you whose tulpa are primarily cartoon, animated, or drawn forms- How do you feel that your tulpa's generative medium has affected your ability to visualize and impose it in the long term? Was it helpful, hurtful, or really any other thoughts about it.

My tulpa is photorealistic, though she's been a cartoon, a drawing, an anime girl, all sort of things before. Primarily, she is a photorealistic human. This is one of the reasons that we figured out touch before visual imposition, because I feel like it's probably easier to impose a 2d or even 3d cartoon character (I'm sure they switch between the two as appropriate) onto your surroundings. But, I think there's some value in the photorealistic tulpa as well, since there's a much higher level of fidelity once you put in the work. I'm pretty familiar with my tulpa's body, down to the pore and follicle level, and I don't' think you can get that kind of granularity with a cartoon tulpa who has two, maybe three shades of color on her palette and nothing different when you get real close up. Maybe I'm wrong though, and cartoon (pony or not) anons will correct my assumptions.

I've never found it particularly difficult to impose my tulpa as a cartoon, at least after I figured out what I was doing.

Scent is impressive. As I said earlier, I really have struggled for more than a decade to lock down scent imposition. I know what my tulpa smells like, I have a very clear idea of it. No, you're correct in your assessment, unless I'm the only one who thinks this way, and I'm fairly sure from firsthand reports that this is normal, tulpa seem to be able to influence the actions of others without them realizing or even perceiving it.

So, my tulpa is, and has been since she was about a month old, way more physically spectacular than me. She's built like a fucking Olympian and also huge (not currently). There's no spectrum of physical conflict between us that ends well. On the physical plane, she can kill me by blocking my arteries. (Obviously never tested, because she's not a psycho. We tested on things that were not life-sustaining.) In the wonderland in regular forms, she's going to kick my ass easily. Even if she's her current size, there's no way I would try fighting my tulpa IRL. She'd destroy and embarrass me. (and has, on several occasions.) On a conceptual, whatever you can imagine as far as it can go scale, she's way more adept than I am. She's smarter than me.

I can only credit her particular emotional sensibilities to my ability to surmount her. Her will is iron, but mine is most often somehow enough to supplant it. That's an emergent personality out of what i designed, but still something that was created out of the forcing process like a 3d printer layers out plastic, line by line.

Here's my quick experience with mine.
I started to make her to be my guardian angel, inspired by how many believers in various Gods said they could see angels from time to time.
I could create basically a puppet that was not stimulating but on the cusp of being alive.
I stopped for a time and re-tried later combining the personality traits of multiple characters I made for my books, and it worked all too well.
It felt weird at first but i'm constantly amazed at how easiy it was to devellop her into a sentient being with just half a year of passive imposition.

Not every battle for control is decided by who can get the other into a chokehold. Your conflict is likely to be ideological, and probably you would be the decider if your tulpa is passive. Not that different than any other relationship with have in life. However, unlike the relationships you have with other people, tulpa share your body and your surroundings, even your life. They might want a say about what happens, and how these things get resolved are up to you and them. Taking a vote all the time is exhausting and tedious, even if you want to be egalitarian about sharing responsibility and control. Someone has to decide and someone offers feedback.

Nope, just weed. I wouldn't say that our particular brand of magic constitutes spellcasting, but my tulpa did get me a wizard's spellbook for christmas a few years back. Neat. I feel like if I tried dowsing, my tulpa would just guide me towards the nearest toilet, so that I could "get to where I needed to go". I've done a few tarot readings with her, and they're usually pretty shitposty.

Don't forget to do visualization work as well as your more mystical efforts. Tulpa need a strong foundation to build upon and you'll enjoy the process.
