think what you want about possibility of working with the subconscious. i found psych-k technique works, been using it for 12 years. i'm not single. there are other techniques that work, but you need detail oriented revision of beliefs, like "I love myself", "people value me", and revision of traumatic charge. i've done thousands of balances. become sherlock holmes of the beliefs you have, you detect them using muscle testing, yes or no for what your subconscious is consistent with, in that method. people use it for fear of flying, etc. it changes what show's up in your life. for me at least. humor also works, so often when i do a psych-k balance i start laughing my ass off. i don't know if it works as well starting out, depends who you are, what you think is possible. other people use silva mind control method, or emotional freedom technique, or self hypnosis. psych-k is great since its so brief per balance, 5-10 min per, gets quicker once you get good. my 25 cent contribution to your getting laid.
