>motivated to join mma>got punched in the head>now im coping that mma is bad for braingive me advice boyos.i dont want to stay pussy. but i also dont want to become retarded
if you're worried about brain damage, i'll say this. mma is unironically less dangerous than boxing/kickboxing because theres little padding on the gloves. of course there's still risks of getting brain damage because you are getting punched/kicked in the head but its less damaging than some of the other combat sports.also if the dextuh had joined mma how well he wouldve done?
>>225420he did bjj and was very good at it. also he literally punched that guy who abused his fake daugher's friend. i think he would never become world chempion like perera, khabib, and so on but he would definetly be in a good list and making good money from mma.
>>225417Train Thai style, very casual. Lots of sparring but rarely going above ~60% speed power, that's the ideal for longevity. But seriously though even though it is an almost inevitable outcome of regular combat, its not going to happen over night. You can get a good 2 years of sharpening your tools, training reflexes, and getting fit without getting concussed all the time. Unless you are planning on doing some amateur bouts or unless you forecast a bunch of street fights taking place you can still see some real improvement in skills and confidence without ever getting into a gym war
>>225423bad advice because i want it for self defense. short story is that i was getting bullied and got punched in the face once. then i became gym rat for 3 years and now everyone is respecting me but if it came down to real fight i think i would freeze. thats why i joined mma.
>>225422so basically like chael sonnen but more autistic, i like it
>>225426Then you simply have to suck it up and get used to being being hit in the head while learning to dodge and stuff. In a street fight you will be hit with bare knuckles with no rounds and no ref, if you're going to get past a freeze response it'll be best to do so in the simulated environment of the gym. You could also just focus on grappling, it'll still give you the upper hand in a street fight
>>225417Keep training mma. Literally one of the fundamentals is "learning to protect your head"
>>225417>coping that mma is bad for brainIt is, there is no acceptable level of brain trauma. Repeated small sub concussive hits are just as bad as big KOs, and head gear doesn't help because nothing about It is stopping your brain from swishing around and banging on the inside of your skullThis is the reality
Have you ever been punched in the head before? If not, there's a membrane that tears if it's your first time gettting smacked hard. Really makes head blows seem a lot worse than they actually are.
>>225426You got punched in the face exactly once when you were weak. How often do you think you're gonna get punched in the face when you're strong?
>>225417Just do techniques and don't spar until you feel confident
>>225742This, I have been practicing my ultimate technique of Eye Gouging for the past five years and even I will have to start small.
>>225417My advice for you OP is train just as long and hard as you can in order to have a sanctioned amateur fight. Ideally a win. That way you can say you did it, look back on it fondly, and have an end goal for the training and also you can step away feeling content I did the same with boxing for what it's worth and it has instilled a lot of self confidence in me and at least one good memory where I won something official and learnt how to throw punches, take a bit of punishment etcUnless you're crazy and it's your life, it's best to just set a goal in mind, achieve it and then step away before you get hurt. Risk/reward
>>225426>bad advice because i want it for self defense.get a gun
>>225833Good advice but it won't fix his cucked fight-or-flight response. Stress inoculation through combat sport will help him with the problem he described.
>>225833And end up in prison because a gun isn't a lawful response to 90% of physical altercations under the eyes of the law. Cope more though
>>225841Depends on the law. Try not living in a shithole where criminals compel you fight them in a fair street duel.
>>225882Okay well done, you live in Texas or wherever. Now 90% of the world doesn't have that privilege.. Are you suggesting they move to your town? Nope? Then shut the fuck up
>>225417Similar story with me. I just do BJJ now
>>225833Guns are not a substitute for knowing how to fight unarmed even in areas where using guns for self defense is legal. You should be able to do both.
>>225900American website. OP is assumed American until proven otherwise. Fix your shithole instead of trying to project its cuckery onto others.
Well the day finally came, I got my ass beat by a chick in sparring. I think my rib is broken. It was the last round of the session and I almost asked if we could go light but I didn’t want to be a pussy. I regret that, because she launched right in and shut me down completely. Most of what she threw was light but she got me with a stiff teep in the ribs. Everything has hurt for going on 5 days now. This bitch put me out of work in under 60 seconds. Wasn’t hot at the time but I’m hard as fuck writing this now
>>225924japanese website.
>>225932there's no upside to training with girls, you either hold back so you don't inadvertently kill them and get beat up on or hit them too hard and you're the bad guy now
>>225417>got punched in the head>now im coping that mma is bad for brainI just remind myself that consuming alcohol and consuming sugar are also bad for my brain, and that hasn't stopped me.>>225426>short story is that i was getting bullied and got punched in the face once. then i became gym rat for 3 years and now everyone is respecting me but if it came down to real fight i think i would freeze. Then you would have to hard spar to condition your body to not freeze up. After you've conditioned your body to not freeze up, you won't need to hard spar anymore.
>>225417You won't get brain damage unless you actually compete regularly. Protect your head if you are that worried, it's just a game. If you lose a sparring because you were too focused on guarding head and got tackled, and nothing bad will happen.
>>225833get a gun and practice with it, learn to fight, have a good 60m dash and 3k, lift heavy and avoid niggers and poors.
>>225426Let me give you some different advice. Don't try to prepare yourself for brain trauma or spend time learning the ultimate self defense system, start trying to avoid being in situations and around gorilla people in general.Learn to shoot and handle guns, if it ever really came down to it that's the best kind of violence to be somewhat prepared for (psychologically, and muscle memory wise). On the other hand, almost every situation that involves you getting punched in the face can be avoided.
>>234959>start trying to avoid being in situations and around gorilla people in general.>Learn to shoot and handle guns, if it ever really came down to it that's the best kind of violence to be somewhat prepared for (psychologically, and muscle memory wise).Yes. However, sometimes you need to fight for the privilege of drawing, orienting, and firing your weapon and running around an IDPA course with his fellow autists isn't going to do as much for freezing upon confrontation as actually physically fighting his fellow autists would.
>>225426>Not afraid to get hitBoxing, muay thai>Afraid to get hitBJJLiterally just go to a BJJ gym, learn how to grapple, and you'll likely never get punched in the face while training. Grappling is far more effective than striking anyway, and since you've got a base in weight training, it'll serve you well. Just don't be too disappointed because it'll take you like 6 months to actually see noticeable gains because it's a slowburn martial art. Once you can kinda start to "understand" it, that's when you ACTUALLY start to advance quickly.
>>225422>>225427I'm imagining him doing his Dexter monologue. "Undefeated...undisputed..." as he hacks apart a guy who knocked him out. In his head, it's a win if he kills the guy.
>>225422bro why do you keep posting kobaxidze in xs threads are you georgian?
>>225417You’re good, done martial arts for 10+ years and you just kill the bad brain cells the good ones can’t be killed
>>225417My advice is to go in a gym where the coach care to their student, and let them do only technical sparring.Sparring become really fun an you can learn more things when your partner don't try to KO you
>>225417>Move your head>Punch missesProblem solved anon. Eventually you'll get punched enough to where you're instincts will kick in. Brain no like being hit. Head movement brothaThe best MMA fighters recognize the reality and danger of the sport. That's why they protect their head. But sometimes you get knocked out anon. It's the game we play.
>>225519/threadThis is pretty clear at this point. Yes there has been studies that have shown the brain can recover from the effects of "hard sparring" over the next 24 hours, however, we also know that brain damage is cumulative. Just because your brain can recover once, doesn't mean it will recover always. Permanent impairment from this shit is a matter of (frequency×intensity)÷skill. It's ironic many people support hard sparring for the "getting hit" conditioning, because you should be learning avoidance more than anything.>avoiding>parry>block>getting hitIf sparring is conditioning you for getting hit, you're sparring wrong.
>>225519Combat sports are generally bad for your health. Even BJJ will ruin your ears and most likely give you some kind of long-term knee issue. Only do it if you love it. Otherwise stick to weightlifting and running.
>>225789Did you stop training in boxing completely after that?I’m kinda looking to do the same thing with boxing and wrestling and probably only doing a small number of amateur bouts in boxing to prove it to myself that I can do it.
>>241104Yeah I stopped training, unless you count hitting the bag once in a while "still training"To be honest I miss it and I felt really confident and happy with life when I was training with the intention to fight, which is why I am looking to get back into another martial art now. I wish I went into another art after like a year instead of wasting years of my life not training anything
>>225417you have to accept there's some degree of getting hit/damage, its a extreme sportthat being said it shoulden't be "excessive or unessicary" are they going so hard that you are/will feel dizzy or rattled regularly? then its probably not a good gym.
