I'm learning how to kickflip atm and this shit is hard work and infuriating. Everytime I make progress in one way, I lose something else. Now I'm at the point where I can flick fine, but the board is twisting frontside every fucking time no matter what I do so I can't commit to a landing at all. Any advice for keeping the board under me and straight? I've tried a few stationary and managed to get the backfoot catch, and even landed one fully, but I've even lost that now and it's frontside every fuckin time. Moving is a little better but still too sketchy to want to stick them.

I live in NYC and have been using a heavy road bike to get around. I have a basket and the attachment to carry the skateboard too. Now I'm tempted to sell it and go full blown fix gear. I'm worried it'll be annoying to ride if I have my bag with me (wax, tool, camera, water, etc) + the skateboard. I tempted to just figure out a way to attach my board to my backpack or something instead of the bike itself. Am I over thinking this?
