Why should I do kendo?

You're a weeaboo might as well move your fat ass pretending you're a 16th century zipperhead

HEMA or Kenjutsu for nerds who like to simulate historical techniques. Fencing or Kendo for the athletes that want to excel in competition.

I'm team nerd in this subject. Swords aren't even viable weapons anymore, so keeping history alive is more important to me than winning.

Swords needs considerable amount of training just to slash "right", else you can hardly get through thick clothing nevermind layers of leather and jeans.

Because you need to know how to drop a bandit from acting silly when the world kicks the bucket one more time and guns are heavily restricted in your country, but you're better off with a short spear and rapier anyways.

This has literally nothing to do with what I said at all. All four martial arts I mentioned will train you to slash correctly and will teach you more advanced techniques too.

Kendo is also good for its intensity and seriousness with which it takes itself. They don't fuck about, in comparison to most of the others mentioned.

Yeah, just like Olympic fencing, it's why I group those two together and put the other two in a different group.

Has anyone ever tried Ryushin Shouchi Ryu? A study group opened up in my area. I have no previous experience with sword arts.

What other sword stuff is available in your area?

Fencing and “weapons” classes at TKD dojangs.
