I want to train something that doesn't involve hard sparring whatsoever, I just want to do drills and light sparring without hard hits or simply hits to the head. I was looking into kickboxing and muay thai gyms near me and they at least seemingly and according to reviews had a quite hard sparring heavy culture in there.
>>253556doesn't have to involve hard sparring whatsoever
Literally shotokanCrazy, I never expected I'd suggest that slop to anyone
>>253556Can I ask why? I mean, there's lots of arts that don't spar at all of that's what you're looking for, but what do you mean by light sparring only? Plenty of McDojos do exactly that.
>>253560I didn't elaborate well, what I meant is that I want to train something somewhat functional with hard hits being ok when it comes to the body, but not when it comes to the head, with strikes to the head being entirely optional or nonexistent. By light sparring I mostly mean this: "Technical sparring is a controlled, low-intensity martial arts or boxing drill focused on refining specific skills, techniques, timing, and strategy, rather than winning"
>>253560The reason is me wanting to get a taste of combat sports, while sustaining minimal damage with me worrying about CTE. If I end up liking them very much, I might turn up the intensity.
>>253563Ah, okay. It's going to be way more dependent on the gym itself than it will be anything to do with style. Most good gyms won't throw you in to be pummeled as a newbie and will match your intensity, and that is true in any style.
>i want to learn how to fight and be a fighter!!>NOOO NOT LIKE THAT! I DON'T ACTUALLY WANT TO GET HIT! >NOO I DONT WANT TO DO MCDOJO ARTS I WANT TO DO A HECKIN MUAY THAI!!>But I don't want CTE!!!!!!kek
>>253556Like Taichi and Aikido?
>>253566I feel like kyokushin fits him, and well, he is interested in practicing casually
>>253556There's a reason BJJ is as popular as it is these days>>253566Believe it or not, some people can have a casual interest in martial arts without wanting to become retarded
>>253583Go and do Burpees and hit a punch bag then with an interval timer Martial arts means getting hit. You will probably have a lower chance of hard blows in MMA gym because theres other ways to finish your opponent rather than repeated head shots. There's a reason Cro cop said kickboxing is scarier than MMA
>>253570only thing is that they prioritize a lot of head kicking there, but it is an awesome art
>>253566many such cases
>>253556Post CSAM
